HOUSTON (KTRK) --
There were scary moments for passengers on board a United Jet this morning. The plane slid of the runway at Bush Airport.

No one was hurt, and they all got off safely. But it was not how they planned to start their day.

Donna Mason is no stranger to the friendly skies. For 20 years, she worked as a flight attendant for Pan Am airlines. But never before had she had an experience like today's.

"Everybody in unison on the plane, it was just a loud gasp," she said.

The airplane landed at Bush airport shortly before 5:30am. United flight 1545 from Las Vegas to Houston was an uneventful one, say passengers, up until the moment they landed.

"I've had a lot of hard landings," said Mason. "This one I would describe as Captain Kangaroo. We hit that runway and bounced a couple of times and then we skidded off."

In a statement, United airlines says, "There are no injuries and passengers were deplaned using stairs after the aircraft rolled into the grass after landing."

Passengers sat on the plane for about an hour before all 167 of them finally made their way out.

Mason, who is now a student pilot, believes the rainy weather played a factor in their hard landing. She kids that if given the chance, her flight would've turned out differently.

"As a student pilot, I think I probably could've done a better job if that," she said.

Give some Texan's 3, 4x4's, a case of Pearl Beer and they'll have that unstuck in 5 minutes. Yeehaw! "We muddin United style, y'all!!!"

I'm half-Texan.

They'd be arguing over if the aircraft pointing toward Dallas or Ft. Worth while some guy in a Tapout shirt is claiming it's Irving.

Meh. I would say it's pointed towards Beaumont/ Port Arthur. But I ain't no Texan.

Hahaha I feel like "Shut up, Donna" is the new "Bye, Felicia". At least in my own head it will be. I just made my own inside joke LOL. And I'm the only one in on it *womp womp*:bounce:I crack myself up

Sure. Its like the first year medical student stating that he could do an open heart surgery. You haven't quite literally earned your stripes yet, Mason.

On a parallel note, I was driving to the airport today and heard about this incident. Suddenly, out of the blue, the anchor was complaining about why is it that at our larger airport in Monterrey we only have one runway, complaining about some corporate big shot not wanting to spend money on the airport. Then the expert called upon said "ahmm that airport has 2 runways already. Winds always favor the longer one. Traffic is according tothe facilities available already".

The anchor just said "Oh. Still the corporate big shots should put more money to the airport". GOD PLEASE do something, we're getting vastly outnumbered here - and what's worse, they have Microphones and TV Cameras!!!
