-Five hours in duration
-Cannot be assigned back to back days
-Cannot be assigned more than six times in one month (had it twice in four months)
-Internet
-Big comfy recliner chair :D

Ahh ready reserve.....

I have had normal reserve this whole month but next month when I move over to DCA.....READY RESERVE all the way through Christmas......fun fun

Where are you at? And who do you work for?

CHEERS

Damn! You guys sit 10 hrs. of ready reserve? We only do 6 hours I'm bored after 2 hrs:D I had 4 ready reserves this month and I got 6 assigned for next month;(

A good book, laptop w/a DVD player. . .reading the SOP :laff:. . . Anything to kill the time. We used to do long ready reserve sits at SFO. (Maybe they still do.) The international terminal has a media store that also has a 15 or so seat home theatre. They always had a newly released to DVD movie running. That usually took care of at least two hours. :)

Get your ass in shape! Bring gym clothes and do laps around the terminal!

Or if I was in your situation, bring a cot...

I had a good laugh at a guy at my EWR crashpad back in September. He fell asleep in a recliner and ended up staying in the crew room well past the time when his 5 hours was up.

Does TSA at least pay you when you are sitting airport reserve for 10 hours? We have 10 hour blocks of hot reserve as well (only limited to no more then 3 in a row) but don't get paid anything other then per diem for them. I am so not looking forward to having to do that again.

I had this F/O that would bid hot PHX with me a lot, cause he lived there. Guy would fall asleep all the time. TV on, people walking around and talking, didn't bother him. One time 11pm came around and he was still sleeping in that recliner. I just didn't have the heart to leave him there after quitting time, so I woke him up.

"Ready Reserve" - Eagle
"Standby" - American

"What's that?" - Delta :laff:

I hated doing airport standby (or whatever it happens to be called). Postively the most boring thing EVER.

Yeah they give you 5hrs of pay guarantee on airport reserve days at good old TSA.

We've got ready reserve here, but it's RARELY used in the MEM base. If it is, it's only a couple of hours from like 7 pm to 8:45 pm. DTW and MSP have it all the time, but it's normally from around 7ish till 9ish. Basically, they want to make sure the highspeeds get out on time. Anything starting earlier runs the risk of being illegal due to Whitlow Rest rules if the highspeed gets back later than 11 am.

As it looks right now, it's about an 85% chance I'll be able to hold MEM again when I upgrade, so I might dodge the ready reserve bullet yet again.

Had to sit ARC (Airport Standby) a few times as an FO. When I first bid a Long Call line, that was all I got (before the rules changed) on the first day. The downside was it was the PM shift. 6pm or so to whenever (can't remember the time). It sucked. The last flight would leave at 2235, so I'd go up to the gate, watch them pushback and then go to the crashpad. Sometimes to kill the time, I'd just ride the train back and forth from B to D/E/International Arrivals Building. It was brutal.

Just try to get the morning shift, sleep until noon in the recliner, get some lunch downstairs, read some mags for another hour, and its already time to go. I've timed it so I leave around 15-20 mins prior to release time. I can still make it back even if they call me right before release, since I'll barely be exiting the employee parking lot by then.
