TSA orders 100 Mitsubishi Jets

Hmmm maybe a peek into who's going to possibly win UA's RFP? That sure does look like a E-Jet!

Kinda unrelated, but isn't UA ending the TSA flying at the end of this year...well the "50 seat" flying, meaning Gojets is here to stay.

Well on a good note...since they no longer fly for American Connection, they can now fly 50+ seat a/c.

I thought I read it was for delivery in 2014

When AWAC ordered their CRJ's they ordered 140 of them. Doesn't mean they ever got them!

Talk about coming from left field...someone else put it on another fourm....this is from outside the damn ballpark...

I think you're thinking of Chautauqua's UAX flying...they're done with 50 seaters for them in DEC.

No TSA is not losing any UA flying, that's Chatauqua. But they lost the AA flying which would only mean that there is no 50 seat restriction. Essentially both Gojet and TSA can fly this airplane and it's on both company websites so it's kind weird. Probably be used as a whipsaw in negotiations. Still it's 2014. A long ways away.

Its a paper jet. Until one is actually flying, I wouldn't get to worked up about it. There are way, way, way to many proposals from around the world for new RJ's. The market isn't going to be able to support them all, so hopefully, some go away. I'll believe this MRJ stuff when we see one in TSA paint.

My gosh, you guys DO listen to us old guys sometimes! ;)

I heard they canceled the jet order and are going with Big Wheels instead.

Oops, I should have read the entire article. I thought it was a different TSA. Humor FAIL

Whenever you're in contract talks or the company wants something, any orders are "paper orders".

I remember at Skyway when we were working on a contract, they "floated" the DC-9-15's. When that didn't pique our interest, Embraer brought out an EMB-145 and gave a couple of demo flights. It really didn't work.

At Southernjets, the company wanted rock-bottom rates on the E-175/CRJ-900 and that'd stem the outflow of jobs lost from piss-poor scope, guys jumped on it and umm, well, no 175's or 900's on the Delta seniority list.

Oh, I could go on and on...

When I saw "Mitsubishi Jets," I was thinking of those little business jets Mitsubishi built for awhile under contract from some US manufacturer. I couldn't figure out what the heck TSA would want those for, then I remembered about the MRJ and this thread made a lot more sense. :laff:

Side note... Another article says these planes are set up in 78 and 90 seat configurations right now. Assuming that things arent fixed in the 5 years before this paper plane turns into a real plane. It would look as if they would be forced over to the UAL side of things in some sort. Unless USairways allowed more large jets into that side of things (doubtful with current lawsuits ongoing). But then again 5 years is a LONG ways away...

Eh, sometimes, when we feel like it. I'm not saying the RJ is dead, I'm just saying the market can't support 10 million types of new RJ's. Maybe 2 or 3, but not all of them that are proposed to come out. Sort of the S-LSA (Light sport aircraft). There is something like 100 of them approved, but I'd bet in 5 years, that over 2/3rd's of them aren't being built anymore.

Ah, I stand corrected.

Didn't see the 2014 part. Remember at one point almost every US Airline was like "We gonna fly the Concorde to the moon yo!" and slapped 20 orders down.
