TSA blog

I hate the TSA. I don't hate individual agents for doing their jobs, but the agency NEEDS to go away, or be seriously revamped. This explains it perfectly:

"I was bypassing screening (again on official FBI business) with my .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and a TSA officer noticed the clip of my pocket knife. "You can't bring a knife on board," he said. I looked at him incredulously and asked, "The semi-automatic pistol is okay, but you don't trust me with a knife?" His response was equal parts predictable and frightening, "But knives are not allowed on the planes.""

There is no logic in their procedures. So an armed person can board the plane with his or her gun, but their pocketknife isn't allowed? I remember being stopped by an agent once after I went through security. He said "I need to see your pen" (It was a Pilot G2.) He clicked it a few times, and then sent me on my way. I mean is this seriously what we've come to? My pen is now a threat? Backscatter machines I'm 100% against, and it really irks me when people simply say "well it makes security easier". I took the pat down once vs going through the backscatter. I nearly missed my flight because of it, but if I had to, I'd do it over again tomorrow.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
