Trip report, Maryland to Georgia

I just got back from a 2 day trip with a freind and student of mine for the instrument rating.

The original idea was to fly to Florida but as we progressed we saw that if we got into Florida, we would get stuck there for a day. Unfortunately we couldnt afford to get stuck for a day (the school needed the plane back) so we cut our trip short at Savannah, GA.

We landed at Burlington Airport in North Carolina.

The guys at SkySouth were great! They are currently rennovating their FBO, but its a GREAT improvment over what it used to look like (last time I was there was over a year ago)

From Burlington we headed to Savannah, GA. Along the way we had some nice cloud cover.

At Savannah we parked at the Shelt-Air FBO. I got to tell yah, they are a breath of fresh air! Its great not to be constricted to Signatures ridiculous prices.

Not our plane!

We stayed overnight at the Hampton Inn. It was very pleasant, especially the complimentary Breakfast...

The next morning we departed on our way back to Gaithersburg MD. The flight schools manager asked me to swing past Burlington again to pick up some engine parts that they were overhauling there for the schools seminole...

But first, we went to see North Myrtle Beach CRE

We stopped at the only FBO on the field, Ramp 66.

Ramp 66 isnt flashy to say the least but they have the warmth of a good old mom and pop FBO.

After a breif stop to refuel, we continued back to Burlington to pick up our cargo of cylinders

We then made a long take off run at full MTOW and headed off into the night on our way home, a BIG thanks to the guys at Potomac Tracon for approving our shortcut over Dulles and shaving an hour off of our flight time!!!!

There yah go, hope you enjoyed!

Awesome pics. I recognize Ramp 66 at CRE because I was there about 4 months ago doing some IFR training with my instructor. I had never done any flying "down south" before; I really enjoyed it.

if there was a putting green at the airport, I dont think I would ever leave...that's a 2 for 1! brilliant.

Great pics. Burlington is where I took my Private checkride. Nice looking Cessna, too! Man, I gotta make it down to SAV one of these days.

Hey I'm a metro-driver based out in Texas and was just in Mertile Beach! Great place, love the pics!!!! It reminded me of my trip there . . . did you see the banner towing kids down there! We dont see that down in Central Texas! Great pics!!
Thanks

Ah! Good 'ol Ramp 66 at CRE. Spent a week there one afternoon waiting out weather further south. The vending machine food wasn't bad at all!

Nice pics of CRE! I was down in the MYR area with my dad golfing, and we stopped in at Ramp 66 to check it out so when we go back next year (I will have my PPL) we can rent a plane and fly it around there. That putting green must be new because I didn't see it back in April.
