training..

Pick a place you'd really like to see and I'd bet there are dozens of schools in the area willing to help you. Run from any school that asks for full payment for all ratings up front as a condition of going there.

Good luck :)

It depends on what you want buddy. For example you have flight academies and you have big Universities. Here is a few I would recommend.

Flight Academies

Universities

I presently attend one of those big universities and if I had to do it again I might just go to one of the academies. Hopefully this helps you out. Also dont pay in full.

Avoid these places:

I went to Dowling College for 2 years before I transferred to one of the big 3 and guys there had over a 100 hours and did not had their PPL yet. They had a class from India or Bangladesh cant remember correctly and those poor guys ended up getting ripped off. No one got anything. They also lost their 141 certification a few times and right after I left they ended up outsourcing the program and sold their planes. The dean used to run an airline before he was hired at Dowling and his mentality was he wanted planes in the air over safety. Quality of training came second to the amount of training. If you call that training. I used to observe some of the flights and the CFI were screaming at their students. They also had to lease their dorms to stony brook because no one wanted to go there. I seriously would caution every one who thinks of going there twice.

Aviator College I had a bad experience with the owner. I called for information about their CFI program and he just ended up screaming at me because the lady at the financial aid office quoted me wrong. Maybe he had a bad day or 3 but I did call back he always had an attitude. Dont know what was his deal.

Just for the record this was my experience things can change but I last I heard Dowling is going downhill. None of the guys that were there when I left ended up getting pass their commercial.
