Traffic Ticket Question Re: Pilot Application

Hey guys, so I'm still filling out the required single submission application profile on airlineapps.com and I've a question about a certain portion of it...

When it comes to the driving violations section, it says list the different infractions you've had including the date, time, type, blah blah blah...

Do they want to know about every single one, or the ones over a certain threashold, over a certain severity, etc?

I've only had two in my life, and they've both been in the past year since I moved home from driving in SE Asia for six months! But they were each less than 10mph over and didn't go on my driving record, ie: no points against my license or insurance.
Additionally, I cannot find any record of them when I search the online oklahoma court dockets.

So, do I list them? And if so, any advice on the best way to find that info? I don't have the actual tickets anymore, just the payment receipts.

were they deferred? i lived in tulsa for 25 years and never got one ticket, how do you get 2 in a year? all the cops i know in tulsa hate writing speeding tickets. most times you can just write approx by the date and thats good enough. pm me and i might be able to help you out as far as exact dates go.

Just list them. The odds are they won't care about regular speeding tickets, but you might look dishonest if you don't put at least one or two down. I get a speeding ticket every two or three years due to missing a sign (even had my speed-o go bad one time) and have been in a few wrecks; it hasn't really harmed my career so far. With that said, I encourage you to avoid letting it happen again.

Here is how this works.

If you don't list the tickets and the airline finds out about the tickets, during your probation period, then you will be fired. No if, ands or buts about it.

So use that as your decision basis.

Well I wasn't asking if I should hide them or not... I know that is a no no ... what I was wondering if they just meant tickets that get you points aginst your license or whatnot...

And yeah yeah I know 2 in a year is terrible, I've never gotten ANY before this, then I lived in Asia for 6 months last year and got used to driving however I wanted to, then moved back home to TUlsa... boom, 2 in 6 months, once cuz I didn't see the step-down speed sign(construction zone with zero construction, and then the second one again in a construction zone, pulled out of a neighborhood, went up to 35, saw the 25 sign, but by then it was too late.

I'm not worried abut them impacting my chances(won't be getting anymore!), I was just wondering how precise I had to be on dates and schtuff.

Thanks for the advice.

As to how to find the info, in Mississippi, you can go online to the DMV website and for about $12 get a copy of your driving record, identical to what they would send to anyone who requested it. You can also go to the local police/sheriff's department and they can run it for you. I'm sure most states have an online version by now.

RTQ.

List them.

Remember, they're going to pull your full "National Driving Record" by default. This is a method of ascertaining if you're honest or not.

I've had tickets. Hell, I used to be quite the speed demon. Hell, probably more to do with being a "non local" (to be PC) living in a small hick town in Arizona, but that's neither fish nor foul.

List them and move on. The only way it would be an issue is if you DIDN'T list it. You might be asked how you got two in one year but just take ownership and don't offer excuses. As for the dates just estimate to the best of your recollection. If I remember somewhere on the app it allows for some comments regarding the ticket info. I think I just put something like "on or about May 31, 2011 I received a speeding blah blah."

Exactly.

For the record, but, the NDR deals with suspensions, duis, and serious offences, not minor tickets.

As long as you pay them, and don't get your ticket pulled, you're fine. Now, that being said, report them as it asks if you plead no contest, were found guilty etc. If you are innocent, and found to be so, then you don't have an offense in your record. Defferments etc are a bit of a grey area to me... and I would report it.

Also, watch out for speed cameras with others driving.. no idea what goes on what record, but I know somebody who can't drive in DE due to refusing to pay a photo enforcement when somebody else was driving his car 10 over in a work zone

Probably depends on the state but typically all driving school does is remove the points to keep your insurance rate down. The question asks about traffic tickets not points so answer the question truthfully. I went to my interview with a couple of tickets over 16 years. I went to school for them but I got the tickets so I answered the question with as much information as I could recall/obtain.

As Doug said it's a truth test not a fool the interviewer test. What they are really asking is when this guy is our 767 Captain and he over speeds the flaps by 5 knots is he going to put it in the mx log or swear it never happened. It's pretty black and white here guys. Don't create an opportunity to screw yourself over something trivial.

I had 5 last year. Dumb Audi.

Exactly! Well, All my driving life I've had a 1993 Ford Ranger 4banger that wouldn't speed going off a cliff, but now I have a Bonneville-ish Delta 88, tends to go a bit faster.

And the comment about the 767 Flaps 5 overspeed reporting is a very good analogy.

And if you have legitimately never had a moving violation or other vehicle-related thing?

Got a few DWBs, I see.

Please, don't try to delude yourself into screwing yourself.

Does it state "List all infractions over....(10 MPH, $xxx fine, etc?), or does it state "List all infractions" (Period!). I personally have not seen an airline app that ask for only certain moving violations to be listed. In fact, all the ones I remember state "ALL," and usually in caps or underlined.

There is absolutely no ambiguity here, and you won't help your cause be attempting to find some.

Be honest, deep down you knew the answer before you even posted the question, so like everyone else said just post them and be done with it. If you don't it will more likely then not come back to haunt you. Who needs that drama?
