Tower pay vs center pay

So what is the average difference in the pay between towers and centers? ....I have heard that the Enroute Centers pay more ...is this true?

Yes, your pay is based on the level of the facility. The levels are 5-12 with 12 being the highest paying. A Tower and Center of the same level pay the same amount.

However, the lowest ranking En Route facility is a Level 8 (Guam, I think), so if you go that way, you're going to be at least in the middle of the Air Traffic Control pay scale at the minimum when you're certified. In the Lower 48, I think the lowest En Route is a Level 10 facility. Whereas Towers go from 5-12 (aren't there a couple Level 4 towers thrown in for good measure? Like Columbus Metro or something?).

Actually I think Salt Lake Center (ZSL) is as a lvl 8. However, I look at it this way, it is easier to move about the country if you are in the Terminal, ATCT/TRACON, environment then if you in a ARTCC. Plus you get to see the aircraft, they are not all green little blips.

Salt lake (ZLC) is a 10.
