Tourettes

My friend has a very very mild version of tourettes and wants to be a pilot. Would his tourettes prevent him from getting a 1st class medical? Bearing in mind that stress doesn't affect his ticks and his ticks are usually only caused when he gets very cold (e.g. when getting out of the bath or shower and feels very cold).

PS: Don't mean to be a pain but I'm a bit of a rookie so I don't understand all the pilot jargon very much :P so if stuff could be explained I'd be grateful, thankyou! :)

We (Eagle) have a check airman with tourettes. I know he flies the line so yes there is a way to get a 1st class with touettes.

I have a close friend who is a Pilot with Tourettes but, you wold never guess he had it. It is just not an issue for him. A lot of times Tourettes is more active in childhood as with my friend and almost goes away as an adult. He was also in the military and got through their medical exams at MEPS prior to joining. He has never told the government anything about his health and they will never find out. If your friend's Tourettes is of the barely noticeable variety then why say anything about it? As far as I know they don't even take medication unless the other conditions ssociated with Tourettes are present (ADD, OCD ect.).
