Security measures will be increased at Maho Beach on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten in response to a viral video showing a woman being injured by jet blast from a JetBlue airplane.
...
In a statement released Thursday by Princess Juliana International Airport, officials say the woman’s injuries “were reportedly not debilitating,” but that in response to this and other incidents, heightened security measures at the airport and on the beach are now being considered.

NOOOOOOOOO! I need to get down there. So girl gets in over her head and ruins it for the rest of us? *Sigh*

"Girl gets blown by plane" Is the title of the video in question.

Thank you for keeping me save Government! I clearly am not capable of determining what is and is not a dangerous situation nor am I able to determine my own limitations and acceptable level of risk. Please continue to eliminate all forms of fun and adventure so that we can be continue to live our safe boring lives providing support for your ever increase reach.

Next up, skydiving and contact sports. Enjoy them while they last.

I will not question, I will only obey.

The "security measure" could just be a couple of inches of soft foam on that vehicle barricade. There's no way they think there are other attractions that will keep SXM as a superior destination.

Government probably doesn't want the liability for people who indeed are incapable of determining what is and is not a dangerous situation, and who would sue because "no one told them it was dangerous" to stand behind the jetblast of a plane running up, and no one protected them from their own stupidity.

Why can't people make their own decisions instead of the government making it for them. They already put plenty of signs there..

Because obviously, people are too stupid to even read or understand the signs. Im against government protecting us from ourselves too, but govt doesn't want the liability for the stupid people who can't......so these stupid people ruin it for everyone else.

It's called Natural Selection.

There shouldn't be any liability involved. If you're stupid enough to stand behind jet blast and get injured, then your ability and "rights" to sue should automatically be removed.

I HATE STUPID PEOPLE.

They seem to ruin EVERYTHING. Except "America's Funniest Home Videos". That seems to be about the only thing they are useful for.

Fully agree there shouldn't be any. Wish it were that way.

A group of knuckleheads got together with a group of knuckleheads in this case...and as a result (and as commonly happens) the rest of us suffer.

The first time I went, no one ever said a word about people hanging on the fence. The next time, a security guard would come and make everyone leave the fence. The next time, no one ever said a word about people hanging on the fence.

Next time I go back, I bet there will be a security guard that comes and makes everyone get off the fence.

Sounds like a blast fence salesperson is due there shortly...

Landing can still part your hair, but take-offs won't cause permanent neurological damage.

Ok, so then we eliminate lawyers.

I don't care how it happens, I don't want stupid people ruining fun for the rest of us. I understand that generally speaking, if you are walking down the street, you should be confident that a building isnt going to just fall on you. But if you see barriers, people holding a fence, multiple signs saying warning and depicting jet blast, a runway, A JET! and you decide to stand there...all bets are off, take what you get and move on.

What we really need is liability reform. That is the real problem. If you decide to go to a bar and drink, you get drunk, you cant sue the bar. If you decide to get a face lift and the botches your nose job, your loss, you didnt NEED it you wanted it. Humans are not perfect, you cant expect perfection every single time, it is unrealistic.
