Not anymore . . . but I did get my PPL there. And yes, Ross was a real hoot (of course, after being yelled at once, you can be sure I'll always check that the master switch is OFF after my flight!)

Howdy.

Hi everyone, long-time listener, first-time caller....

This is one of my first posts to the forum, although I check JC almost twice a day. I honestly don't think I have found any other source that has given me so much useful, real-world information as this site has.

That being said, hats off to Doug and all of the other regulars who make this such an informative and educational place to visit. I haven't been in a plane in over a year, but I still feel like a member of the aviation community whevever I just 'browse.'

Right now, I am stuck in a bit of a rut. I graduated college a year ago, and have a decent full-time job. Like most of us here, I want to follow my dream and pursue a career in aviation...but I have yet to take the plunge. Money is the main issue right now, and I know I'm probably going to have to take out a pretty good loan to help make this happen.

And that's about it. I'd like more than anything to start flying again, but I don't want to drag it out for too long. I did that with my private license, and it took me over a year. I think the best way to make it happen is to try to knock it all out as quickly as possible at a local FBO and try to scrape by.

Is anyone else in this boat?
Any words of encouragement or pearls of wisdom out there?

Re: Howdy.

Until you start further training I'd suggest making all of your flights, for fun or to keep currency, cross countries since you need the 50 hours XC PIC for the instrument rating.

In all seriousness, welcome to the forum! We're glad to see that you decided to come and hang with us! Since you have a full time job that probably pays the bills, a local FBO might be a good thing. How long have you been in the area? Where did you do your private training at?

Don't feel bad...took me over a year to get my private ticket, too. That's the way it works.

Again, welcome!!
