"Time from Last Dose"

Dr. Forred,

Is there an actual FAA document referencing the dosage rule change for DQ medications? I have a friend whose AME still assigned him 24 hours based on a once a day medication, and according to your post, it should probably be 5 days. So, AME's aren't being distributed this information? And... where do I find it on the FAA website?

AME's are given the information. It is in the latest Federal Air Surgeon's Bulletin that each of us gets in the mail. Just need to read it.

Dr. Forred,

I'm still working on a side research project that involves this, and one huge question continues to arise that I hope you'll have an answer to: Is the Federal Air Surgeon's Bulletin advisory or regulatory in nature?

Is there new regulation backing the bulletin or is it like an (AC) advisory circular?

Thanks!

That is a legal question, I do not know. I do know that all of the medical ergs state "at the discretion of the Federal Air Surgeon". If he says it, it is minimally policy.
