Plenty of guys with the same idea. FYI - I don't have a dog in this hunt, I just read these threads for amusement.

bwahahaha! I know the first guy! He was a PFT "FO" at Ameriflight. LOLZ

I think you've got a dog in the fight.. You call him Clipper.. :)

You two are a regular Maverick and Goose..

You're both new members, you both only care about this thread, it's cute.. :D

Goose was an NFO, not a pilot. I have never met Clipper, but good on him if he had the military pay for his education. He has a lot of fun ahead of him if he does have a flight contract attached to that "free" education. They will however, seem to be taking every dollar back, a nickle at a time with the occasional pain cave.

Back to the original idea here. I used to work for myself doing contractor work and ran into the same type of thing as you have here. Anyone with a pickup truck will try to undercut the guys who really are the reliable, quality businesses. Those people would never last long, and the homeowners would be calling you back when they saw the error in their ways.

Not to mention, these guys on Barnstormers have their name's out in the open on the interwebs, potentially getting themselves blackballed from future jobs if they do find themselves trying to work their way up through the ranks.

ROTC? BDCP? Pretty sure both are 100%, might even get a paycheck while attending school.

If you're doing the flight program - ROTC/BDCP may cover tuition, but not the flight lab, etc.

Anyone who has had the military pick up the bill for ERAU's flight time/labs, etc feel free to correct me

He might want to be more careful about posting that he'll use pass privileges in connection with a business venture, because he's already posted enough information on the Internet to get a certain individual in huge trouble at work.

Because it violates the rules set forth in the agreement, most likely..

Pass privileges are for personal use, not commercial activity..

Just like a FedEx pilot caught using his discount to ship items for "business" is a firing offense...

Right, I get that part but no one knows the airline with the pass priviages,or where he lives so they can't prove or connect him with using them illegally???

Keep telling yourself that.. I say yourself because i believe you are him.. If you are using your parents privileges you may want to think about the repercussions of doing such.. I'm sure the person allowing you to use the privileges would love to lose their job due to you abusing them..

If you believe that it would be that hard to prove, you're living in a bubble.. There are pilots who get in hot water with the FAA over YouTube videos under "assumed names."

You have posted you phone number on a classified ad..

Think about it..

This ferry pilot has no business in aviation. Consider that last week, I paid a guy $35 to spend an hour washing and cleaning my car. This guy doesn't have nearly as much education as our ferry pilot, and he considers his skill to be 4.375 times more valuable than that of an ERAU grad. FML

Wow, talk about inflation? My guy only charged $15! You're overpaying him. . .making me look bad. Looks as if I might have to resort to the local car wash. :sarcasm:

Guess that's better than the $75 the guy charges to "detail" my car, and much less expensive than the zero dollars I charge my "son" to wash it . . . if he wishes to "drive" it.

Kinda compared to corporate flying, huh? Nepotism? ;)

Obviously you haven't been in aviation long. This world is very small. Aviation makes it even smaller. Someone will find out who you are.

Oh. My. Goodness.

So much drama. I can't believe I just saw a JC member go from "Hi guys, I'm new here," to "You guys suck, I'm taking my ball and going home," in only seven posts.

That has to be some sort of record.

The thing I don't understand is how a person like Clipper can be so clueless to people trying to help him. I don't post here because I'm trying to boost my own pay, make myself feel better, or rip on the new guy. It's because I legitimately want to help people. I've learned some lessons from my own experiences/observations over the years and I'd like to pass on these lessons to guys with less experience. Hopefully save them the trouble of learning it the hard way.

Then what do they do? Come here, act like they know best, get pissed off, take their ball, and leave. Ok. Whatever. It makes me shake my head in astonishment.

Hopefully the next newbie will be more receptive to solid advice.
