Imagine having the job of that guy in the video counting the cups of red stuff. When you're getting your crappy pay and sitting on reserve at a regional, you can always go "Well, at least I'm not counting and weighing cups of red stuff."

The limiting factor is that ground support isn't mobile, at least not during a fire and other fire attack based can't support a Jumbo Jet. I've seen Tanker 10 (DC-10) fill up in Victorville then fly 300+ miles to a fire north of SFO. Drop a load then return 300+ miles for more foscheck.
