\"The Industry\" is worse off than I thought...
The good news is NW is expanding in MKE (though the latest round is a Pinnicle expansion). The bad news is it's one of their top revenue producing markets and they're making $100 annually!
No lie:
"Milwaukee 'mini-hub' for Northwest:
Northwest Airlines will add seven daily flights from Milwaukee, including new service to Baltimore, Kansas City, Mo., and St. Louis. The carrier will also add one additional round-trip flight between Milwaukee and Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York LaGuardia and Washington Reagan National. The move is Northwest's third expansion in Milwaukee in the past year, creating a de-facto mini-hub. Terry Trippler, a Minneapolis-based air travel consultant, told The Associated Press that Northwest may have concluded Milwaukee will become a more prominent secondary airport as gridlock increases at Chicago O'Hare. Milwaukee is less than an hour's drive from many of Chicago's northern suburbs. Northwest officials say Milwaukee is one of its top revenue-producing markets, generating roughly $100 annually. The new flights will be phased in between July 1 and Sept. 1. Northwest will waive change fees for customers currently holding tickets on connecting itineraries between Milwaukee to Baltimore, Kansas City or St. Louis to switch to the new non-stop flights; changes must be made by April 30. The additions will give Northwest a total of 29 daily non-stop flights from Milwaukee to 12 destinations. Posted at 8:15 a.m. ET"
