The F-15N Sea Eagle

They need to redo a lot on that airplane for the punishment it will take being slammed on to the deck repeatedly.
Tail hook, gear are two main things...
What about the rest of the aircraft structures. Is it even designed for repeated hard landings.
Avionics may get a good thrashing too...

Total trap life limit of 9…. Ok get me another one.

All the things that make the Eagle so good go away when you start retrofitting ten thousand lbs of non mission enabling stuff to the airframe to make it live on a ship.

The F-15 was/is a great fighter aircraft, so is the F-16. The fact that they don't have a huge combat record should speak volumes. No one was willing to fight them.

Both have glowing combat records. Ask the Israeli Air Force.
I know, when they fight it’s fangs out, they fight without restrictions. The fact that they use our hardware, or modified versions of it, and win isn’t surprising.

I mean yeah, but they were going up against countries with much older aircraft. They weren't going up against other 4th gen fighters.

It all started with Israeli Messerschmitts vs Egyptian Spitfires

It's an advantage, yes. But probably one that we won't have for too much longer with the current 5th gen and future 6th gen fighters coming out of both Russia and China.
Russia and China are really good at building prototypes that look good on paper and airshows, but then they can't actually produce them in significant numbers. Meanwhile we build more F-35s in a month than they do in a year.

I always thought the Warthog would make a formidable carrier based strike aircraft. Much like My former platform (Viking) it has turbofan engines and the wings appear to be capable of being possibly modified to fold the same way (as the S-3). Additionally with low approach speeds it would seemingly be a piece of cake during CARQUALS.
