Doug,

I remember when I first started visiting your first web site years ago. Reading about all the stories was a source of motivation over the years. Well, I just completed training for a commuter based out of Denver International and I must say it was awesome flying the mighty Beech. I now look forwrd to completing IOE and hopefully over the next few year built some quality time, upgrade and move on to something bigger. Thanks for all you've done and continue to do.

Antonio,

Dude, I noticed you didn't name the airline, but I assume you're with the regional that rhymes with "Great Shakes."

j/k. Be sure to drop us a post and let us know how IOE goes. It would make for some good reading.

I actually started visiting the site in late '98 or early '99. That was hen we had a few members. After Doug redid the site, everyone had to resign up.

I will be flying for Great Lakes and amazingly, the upgrade is running 6-8 months. I'll drop a post after IOE and update.

So long.

AHH good old Great Mistakes.... I worked there for 2 years and a cheaper outfit you will never find. I am glad that Voss has managed to keep the doors open but they are allways one step away from going under.

Say hi to Hedi if she is still the DEN station manager, cool girl.:p

Citationkid,

Yes, I did graduate from DSU last May. Did all my ratings there.

Aviator...when did you leave Lakes? Actually, Voss owns only about 49% and no longer runs the company. It is majority owned by Raytheon and hey brought on Chuck Howell to run the place. Surprisingly, we posted a profit last year.

Heidi is now at headquarters in Cheyenne. I'll say hi when I see her. What are you doing now?

We lost a significant number of pilots in the last 3 months to Frontier, Southwest, ATA, America West, Air Tran, Comair, and Skywest. The pay isn't all the great but you can't beat the flying, camaraderie and upgrade times. Pretty soon there will be no one to compare with as the turboprops are dying, fortunately we still have our niche.

The one thing that I liked about Lakes was the people who worked there.

If you can get past the - non-existant company training, penny pinching which defies imagination, and being treated like a sub human most of the time, you will find a core group of employees that are a privledge to work with.

I think the reason Raytheon pushed Voss out is that he was never able to pay them for all those 1900's. Yet he gave himself a $1,000,000 bonus after a year of the worst losses in company history. (I recieved a set of GLA whisky glasses that year as my christmas bonus.) Besides his ex-wife was constantly milking the company for every cent.
I left around 3 years ago and I'm currently an instructor/141 check airman down in FL.
I hope that most of those types of people are still there. Do the Hawiiaians still run the ramp in DEN?
