Thanks a million!

I'm gonna get you a second phone call, OK? You're gonna call your mommy or your daddy or your parish priest or your boy scout leader, and they're gonna deliver me a check for $4650.00. I'm gonna write that down on the back of my business card. Four, Six, Five, Zero, OK? And I need that in a cashiers check or a money order, doesn't matter. Actually, ah, I want it in a money order and ah, make it out to "Ice Station Zebra Associates." That's my loan out. It's totally legit... its done just for tax purposes. After that we can discuss Visa or Mastercard, but definitely not American Express, so don't even ask, alright? Any questions?

So is this going to be like "Handel on the Law" where you yell "You have no case" or more like my wife who says "What the hell were you thinking... " after her clients try to explain what they did to get into trouble.?

Maybe a little of both. Of course, if "thinking" were a prerequisite I (and it sounds like your wife) might have a lot fewer clients.

Small world! You were my PPL DPE @PilotDefenseAttorney

Would be hard to forget your face.. I've got a post-checkride picture on my office wall that was a gift from Bob D. with you and I in front of that 150 of his.

i have a friend, not me, who asked if i knew an aviation attorney who could help him on a medical cert. issue. he has been battling the FAA for a couple of years and haven't had much luck. he is in the tampa area, and i told him i would call AOPA Legal Protection. Just saw your link today.

Thanks. If he is a member of AOPA and enrolled in their legal services plan he should definitely give them a call. I am a plan attorney and would be happy to help but I think they refer on a geographic basis. I'm not sure if a plan member can work with any plan attorney or if they have to stick to those nearest to them. In any case, I'm sure whoever they refer to will do a good job for him.

I think the geographic nature of referrals (which may be in the FSDO area rather than the pilot's home) is for pilot convenience and cost control in the event of live conferences or hearings. With the panel list available to program members, there's nothing preventing a pilot from going to the list and picking an attorney. I'm pretty sure I've had pilots choose me as a Plan attorney without going to AOPA at all.
