Terminal or Enroute

I was just curious to see what type of facility everyone wants to go to. Also I made voters info public on the poll.

Only because I live in the Cleveland area and going to CLE would be more convenient then commuting to ZOB, would I prefer terminal.

If I were going to a completely different state or if I lived between the two then it wouldn't matter to me either way.

Huge suprise! Enroute winning? WTF!!!

Must be mostly newbies who've been voting! $$ <<---- Can't buy you happiness!

I totally agree. I can't believe enroute is winning over terminal! Do people really want to sit in a dark cave all day?

Heh. For me, I wanted to do En Route over Terminal because of the training. Tons of new hires were being sent directly to level 10-12 facilities, and washout rates at several were getting into 70-80%. Everybody thinks they'll be one of the few that can handle training at a place like DFW or O'Hare off the bat and stay sane/stay married/not quit, but high-level facilities weren't (and still aren't) equipped to train brand new developmentals.

Centers, on the other hand, have large, established training programs. I put down that I'd work at either, but was hoping for a Center in order to get a good training base before shooting for a higher level terminal environment. Which was what I got, so, hooray.

That's not to say all terminal new hires get sent to big places and burn out, of course... it's just that the ones that do, often will.

Damn Ross, again you're on point!!

Assuming I ever receive a score on my ATSAT and then make it through the rest of the process (knock on wood). Enroute, ZAU specifically.

No windows for me please. I'll enjoy my dark cave. The sun and I have a long standing hate/hate relationship with each other. It will woe when I finally learn how to set it on fire.

Heheh. Wait till we all get hired and find out I was wrong about everything. Hey, by that point, we'll be employed and no one'll care, right? :D

On target again Ross! I noticed too how when everyone starts at OKC they hardly ever come back. Most not all anyways..

Terminal. I'd like to go to a nice level 8 or 9. Hell I'd take anything. Even something level 5 or 6 just to get CTO, do my time and then transfer.

I'd do either...and live in Seattle where I don't have to go far to get to either. Just toured ZSE on Friday and it was great! I wouldn't mind working there at all. I've also went to work with my pops...who has been a controller at Seattle Tracon for 25 years...and wouldn't mind working there either. The center definitely has a huge training program, and a supervisor told me that folks have been getting checked out (CPC) in 2.5 years there...with a low washout rate.

That's good news, as I'm headed there. We probably got around to training times and stuff when I visited, but it was over a year ago, and I don't remember. Most of what stuck was the dimly lit workout room and that they had an XBox in the break room. And the Indian casino caddy-corner to the place. You know, the important stuff.

When I interviewed at ZHU, the guy who interviewed me told me he was at ZSE a few months back. Called it a country club, said it was a nice place to start off and get checked out. If you make it in, be sure and let me know... will roll out the red carpet for you when you get there. Well, as much as a developmental can do that, at least.

Thanks, Rossta! I'm hoping I get selected for anything around here...as I really don't want to move. ZSE definitely has a great team atmosphere and I would love to work there with ya. Good luck to you for sure...seriously, ZSE seems like an awesome place...and its a level 10 facility! I've got my fingers crossed that I get in there somehow. Muckleshoot Casino...awesome! Biggest casino in WA state...the huge building with the 10 story parking lot! :laff: Let me know when you get out here and I can show you around Seattle if you like...unless you're familiar with the place already. Seattle and the surrounding areas are beautiful and chilled out...its a great place to live. I won't be finding anything out til' January, as that's when my name goes on the WQ "list"...but hopefully I'll find out quickly...as I turn 31 August 2, 2010! Again...good luck to you my friend. :rawk:

Terminal, but they sent me to an ARTCC. Either way, I'm happy to at least have a job.
Oh, and just so you guys know there are a lot of washouts at centers too, even slow ones...
