Tenative Job Offers??

I have read in other posts that they screen some candidates out before even offering the test, and then very few fail the test. Some people have stated with no conclusive evidence that if you pass the test you will receive a job offer. I dont really beleive this but for my own curiosity I would like to see if anyone who applied last year, and passed the test and has still yet to receive a tenantive job offer / interview. Also I am wondering if anyone has recieved a score of "100" that has not been done the same. And if you have not do you think there were any circumstances that may have prevented you? Any replies would be great I think alot of people are interested while we sit and "WAIT" what thier respective poosibility of getting the job would be.

I passed (88) last year and I haven't been offered an interview yet... I only applied to one location (I didn't know if you could do more than one, I thought it would be redundant?)

It does seem like everyone is getting interviews and it's really disheartening to me to know that I can't get hired for a job everyone else is getting hired for!

If you only applied for one spot, don't lose hope. A lot of thos sites from last year haven't had referral lists come out yet. You'll just have to wait it out.

I have made many referral list but still no interview, just made the list for Seattle and Auburn WA. maybe I'll get that interview. I must agree with kC it is very disheartening to see other's that applied when I did get interviews and go to OKC but I will never give up hope on something I really want.

wve iii,
I am responding because I made a 100 on the AT SAT. I will be able to tell you my timeline about an interview hopefully within the next month.

My timeline so far:
2/16/2008- Approved to take the AT SAT
3/7/2008- Got a letter telling me of test site in Stockbridge, GA
3/7/2008- Got a call saying test site was changed to Peachtree City, GA
3/15/2008- Got a call saying test site was changed to Atlanta, GA
4/1/2008- Took the AT SAT at Embassy Suites
4/2/2008- Received notification on ASAP of a score of 100

I'm still waiting to hear about the next step in the process. I was hoping to get in the PEPC on the 10th in Atlanta, but I guess it is too soon to get into it since I just took the test and got my results.

I agree with GBurgNupe, a lot of postings from last year have not started referrals yet. I applied for HI, OH, OK, VI, WI, and WV and so far only HI and OH have done referrals and I applied 8/10/2007. The Hawaii referrals (2) never invited me to the AT-SAT.

Here's my timeline thus far:

6/15/2007: Applied OTS to Minneapolis/St. Paul area only.
2/20/2008: After calling FAA once a month I am told to take the AT-SAT in Arlington, TX even though I live in Minnesota and am applying for a job in Minnesota.
3/7/2008: After talking some sense into the Robinson Aviation and FAA Careers Division I'm allowed to take the test in Lisle, IL on six day notice.
3/17/2008: AT-SAT score posted on ASAP - 97.6
3/18/2008: Called Aviation Careers Division and they told me that MSP is doing interviews the week of April 21st so the referral list will be created shortly before that.
3/19/2008 to present: Waiting...

I applied for many locations last year ( have since applied for the nation wide one as well)... took the test in January 2008. I scored 87.5 on the test. Every time a referal list went out since i took the test i have been on it. I have not been called for an interview on any of my locations. Still waiting and hoping that I will get that call or email.

Thanks for the responses. It seems to me that alot of the people who have taken the test and passed especially in the well qualified range (85-100) have mostly received some type of offers? But that is just based on what i see on these messege boards. I wonder if every applicant gets to take the test?? It probably costs a good deal of money just to administer each exam? So I wonder if they weed some people out at that point? Anyways it sure would be nice to know more but like I said before I gues we just have to WAIT and find out what happens

Interesting response-Would you have replied had you scored 95? 90? Congrats on the score, but it is really just bragging rights. It is "Well Qualified."

And as to hearing within the month, that is VERY UNLIKELY! You will not be preferentially hurried through the system because of your 100, you will be pulled along at snail pace just like the rest of us! I was selected for an interview 3 weeks ago, and have yet to interview. So, congrats on everything and good luck, but the process is not a quick one.

He's not bragging, the very first post in this topic had a question that specifically adressed those who scored 100.

I got put on a referral list in 09/07 about a week or so after taking the the AT-SAT. It wasn't until 01/08 that OKC notified me that I would be contacted for an interview. I didn't get contacted until 02/08 to schedule my interview. Then about 2 weeks after my interview I got a tentative offer. Basically there is ALOT of waiting in between stages. Patience is definitely key in this process!

wve iii,
I am sure that every qualified applicant gets to take the test. If you meet the work and school combination requirement, you are allowed to take the AT SAT since it only costs the FAA around $700-800 to administer the test to each person.
According to some people on this site, a 'well qualified' person making a 100 and making a 85 are on a level playing field. That is complete bs. From the FAA website, "In most cases, candidates are divided in "qualified" and "well-qualified" groups." Key words: most cases. A 100 and a 85 are not in the same ballpark and the FAA knows this. The FAA is not going to spend close to $100,000 on a person that makes a 85 that has the same qualifications as a person that made a 100.
Don't worry about your score man. You are just going to have to wait a little while since only 7% of recruits in 2007 came from the general public. A 100 will get you to wait less than a 85 so don't worry too much about it. You will hear soon enough...

I responded because I READ what the question was that was being asked. So, no, I would not have responded if I scored less than a 100 because then the question would not have been directed towards myself and others that scored 100's. Evidentially, following directions and/or questions is not your strong suit. Maybe you did not score as well on the AT SAT because you did not pay attention to what was being asked, but I don't know you at all to make that assumption though it appears that way...

The score isn't just 'bragging rights.' A 100 and a 85 are not anywhere near the same in comparing scores. The FAA knows this and they are not going to hire someone with the lower score(85) over someone with a higher score(100) if they have the same qualifications. It is too big of a risk for the FAA to spend the money on most people that score below a certain score...and that score bar is not 85. The FAA will look at people with higher AT SAT scores before people with lower scores. Names of 'well qualified' people aren't just drawn out of a hat and called in for an interview.

Why wouldn't I be able to hear within the next month? I have all the necessary qualifications and scored well on the AT SAT as have many others on this site and others like it. If you have some insight into scoring a 100 and have waited for a long time to get a PEPC date, interview, and job offer, please fill us all in so we will be as enlightened as you! If you didn't score a 100, don't assume the rest of us will be pulled along at 'a snail's pace.'

Hopefully, others, like Mr. Fent, get employment with the FAA over people, like yourself, that DON'T READ THE QUESTION THAT WAS BEING ASKED. Mr. Fent knew why I was responding to the question because of WHAT the question was asking. Pay attention and maybe you will be on the 'right page' with everyone else that understood and read the question.

Damn you seem to know more about the FAA's hiring qualifications than even they do! I can't wait for my red carpet hiring because of my 100! :sarcasm:

Just curious where you are getting your information? Everything I have read and heard is that in the past an 85 was considered "well qualified" just like a 100 is considered "well qualified". I know it might not make sense but there are quite a few things that the FAA does that do not make sense. Also, OKC has told numerous people who applied at the same time as you that they wont even start sending geographic preference emails until all eligible applicants have finished the AT-SAT and they wont finish testing until 4/30.

Good luck with everything, and hopefully it does goes fast, but could you please enlighten the rest of us with your evidence or where you are getting information? I am not trying to be hostile, but what you are saying seems to go against much of what the FAA has been doing over the past year with OTS hiring.
