Tanker accident. No fatalities

BJC is one of my "home" airports. From the video, I can't tell which runway it ran off of. 29R has quite a drop off of the departure end and it doesn't look like it went off that one. If it took off and made an immediate return, it could possibly have tried to land on runway 2, which is closed to fixed wing aircraft, but an overrun would put it squarely on 120th ave- however 120th is not a 2 lane road at that point. It is a 2 lane road past the end of 29R, though (and mere yards from the BJC VOR)

Glad to hear the crew is ok. I think I've fueled that tanker before down in Cedar, I love the sound of them taking off.

That the Jeffco airport? Guess they renamed it....probably a long time ago. I don't pay attention.

Glad they got out OK. Also glad that as a contract ARFF guy at helibases and helispots with my truck, we haven't had an accident we've had to respond to. Keeping fingers crossed.

Unless I missed something, what was the original IFE for that they brought the aircraft back?

we still call it Jeffco...I didn't know there was another name for it..

they had a hydraulic failure over the fire. Then on landing the back up system failed as well.

I'm glad everyone was able to walk away and fly another day. Fly safe out there fellas.

Its not a cool feeling when you push on those breaks and nothing happens had it happen to me a few times in the 421 and it will get your attention real fast.

Pretty bad break for the crew when the brakes don't work. :D

(can you tell its a boring day?)

The Denver Post story I read made it sound as if they had a hydraulic failure on takeoff and immediately returned to land. Imagine my surprise that they got it slightly wrong

if the brakes don't work it is likely you will break something!

(us too)I did just get a tour of the new ICE facility in the bat building here at IWA....I keep asking, but nobody knows you...yet

I was just there 2 days ago. They didn't run off the runway. The hydraulics failed on the ramp and they rolled down the hill through a fence.

Incorrect. We received the notification of the accident within minutes....and the pilots were slightly injured but will recover. The aircraft is repairable.

...and if that were the case why would the left prop have been damaged in that way?
