What airports can you get some awesome airplane pictures or just spot airplanes close by from the road or in a building? I know of Newark Airport and Fort Lauderdale airport. Thanks

Most GA airports you can just walk the ramp at 'em. Just make sure you talk to the FBO first.

SLC has an airport right next to one of the runways, there are also roads that are pretty close to the runways.

I would say most airports have a great view or two to catch planes if you know where to look. ATL can be rather distracting with the big Delta jets flying right over I-285 on short final. Ive seen a guy in a lawn chair in the media for the road that runs right by 20L and 20R at PDK... seems like a great spot.

At LAX there is some pretty sweet spots... Most are legal too.

Burbank too has a really cool spot, Southwest Galore! If your in the mood for GA and some nice Corporate stuff Van Nuys airport is the place. They have a great Observation area.

Shoot me a PM if you want any info on SoCal Plane spotting.

Warwick Industrial Ave. is a pretty good spot at PVD, as well as where the extended centerline of 23L/5R crosses Main Ave. (RI-113) and Airport Rd.

LGA is awesome for this. my school is right across the street you could get great pictures all day.. at times im not sure what runway it is. but when they come right over the school they are about 100' agl makes for some car alarms as well as good views

oh and st maarten but its kind of expensive to go there for just some pics

I think you may be talking about runway 4 at LGA. It could be 31, but most likely, you're referring to 4.

couldnt tell you off the top of my head... but when i go to school tomorrow i will surely look into it.. its the rwy that crosses the grand central

If you can get on top of the Laurel Travel building on the approach end of Runway 27 at SAN, you can probably get some great shots. Just watch out for that Pushing Tin style wake turbulence. Whoa!

Most popular spot at PHX is the parking garages. Perfectly situated in the middle of the airport.

In PHL, I used to walk the road along the appch end of the 27s. Great spot for low levels and not much traffic.

CLT has a public viewing area that's great for pics for 18R / 36L.

Worst case, drive the car to the airport, turn your hazards on, pop the hood, and take pictures.
