If you had a direct line to the forecast office for every airport and were allowed to call out forecasters on their TAFs without it affecting your job what would you tell the forecaster or ask them?
 
When looking for an alternate, I once saw an airport TAF completely miss the mark with the TAF showing VFR when conditions were very much IFR. When reviewing the forecast discussion I recognized the initials at the bottom of the discussion as a friend who now works at that NWS office. Messaged them to see what they were thinking would happen over the rest of the evening and got detailed discussion and most importanly a confidence level on conditions staying what they were and not deteriorating any furthrer. They also admited their TAF was garbage lol
 
The old place I used to work at we did that quite a bit. They are VERY receptive to calls and do not hesitate to help if they can. They are monitoring multiple airports at any given time so they appreciate the help watching the trends. I have never been told NO to a requested forecast change, as long as the trnde supports it.
 
Makes me think of some of those Canadian TAFs where you’ll see TEMPO, PROB30, PROB40, BECMG, and more all in the same span of 2-4 hours.

if your airline uses the weather company, Delta weather or has its own provider then the TAF writer's phone number should be programmed on your phone system.

The NWS TAF has a forecast discussion section on noaa.gov. Type in the city you are flying to and at the bottom is forecast discussion with aviation section normally at the end of the written forecast.

The forecasts for King Salmon, AK have been remarkably wrong many days this summer: some days wildly missing the visibility, ceilings, and, most recently, the winds. And there’s a NWS forecasting office located there! If I had their number I’d call to tell them their dart board needs replacing.
