I hadn't heard of this until today. Smokey engine failure at FL400, 2 FAs hospitalized along with 15 pax after diversion, but now one of the FAs have passed away.

First fatal accident for Swiss since they were formed from commuter carrier Crossair in 2001 or 02 or something and first fatal accident for the A220. Pretty dammed scary.

Swissair had plenty of accidents, as did Crossair, but they've been gone since the turn of the century basically. Swiss International is another carrier on another certificate born from the ashes of Swissair by transferring MD-11/80s and A319/320/321/330/over to Crossair, but some of the planes like the 747s and A310s did not come over to the new certificate and company. Not just a name change, it was a Pan Am/Eastern/Braniff type overnight failure that shook up the small country.

Yes daddy

I've never understood how that became a thing anyway outside of maybe Kentucky and Alabama.

I could probably get into that gal from "American Made" spreading her legs and yelling daddy at me.......as an aviation anecdote from some state that might be those

Well SOME of us are old enough to remember crossair... and go on to fly the might Saab, albeit the less mighty 340 (crossair had 2000s)

Formative moment as a young student in Germany...

Is this similar to the Leap engine issue on the 737? You get smoke in the cabin with severe damage?
Maybe. The 220 has Pratts, which are toooootally different. But I imagine a failure in any engine in front of the bleed pickups could result in cabin smoke. ?
