Northwest Airlines is seeking customer service professionals to work in a fast paced airport environment as Quality Service Assistant (QSAs). The primary responsiblity of a QSA is to provide quality customer service. QSAs perform passenger service duties in the airport terminal, including meeting and greeting arriving and departing customers , providing assistance with flight and gate information, answering travel itinerary questions, and dealing with any problems or passenger concerns. QSAs also work with Managers and Customer Service Agents to ensure that Northwest Airlines meets its high standards of customer service. They also help passengers with special needs such as disabled and wheelchair passengers, and unaccompanied minors.

Work Environment - QSAs work rotating shifts including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. QSAs also assist disabled passengers by transferring wheelchair passengers to their gates and baggage claim areas. QSAs assist unaccompanied minors by escorting them from the arrival gate to their departure gate and/or Unaccompanied Minor Room. In some instances of irregular operations QSAs will provide overnight assistance to the unaccompanied minors.


Minimum Qualifications:

* 18 years of age or older

* High School diploma or GED. Must be able to read, write, speak and easily understand the English language.

* Ability to work on a permanent basis in the U.S.

* Must pass physical examination; ability to lift 40 lbs.; vision correctable to 20/40; hearing test; drug screen

* Work rotating shifts including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Preferred Qualifications:

2 -3 years of customer service experience.

Strong communications and interpersonal skills.

Training: All training will be conducted at the local station.

Scheduling: You must be available to work a rotating shift including days, afternoons, evenings, and holidays in order to meet the needs of the operation. Part-time QSAs will be scheduled 20 hours per week.

Union: Quality Service Assistants are represented by a collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Machinists (IAM). Membership requires an initiation fee and monthly dues, which are deducted from the paycheck. Union representatives will be enrolling employees after 60 days of being on the job.
