Sudoku and pilots?

I've noticed that 5 out of the last 5 guys I've flown with are Sudoku maniacs.

I wonder if it's just me or some underground revolution of airline pilots dropping the crossword puzzles and picking up sudoku.

Well as proved my so many internet pilot chat boards, we aren't all that good with words. Hence the JC grammar goon squad! So when you fail with complex words, turn to easy numbers like 1 through 9!

:D

Sudoku lover here.

I don't find them that hard to do. It is sort of like color by number. I stick with the crossword puzzle, although the sunday times is a little bit beyond me. I can normally hang on until thursday or friday, and then it is all over. I have noticed that in the past two months many of the captains I've flown with have started doing them. Also, the FAs have them as well. I like Matt's reason. It makes sense to me.

My future father in law is a 767 capt and I don't think I have seen him without a Sudoku puzzle in a long time.

I think there is a misconception that if you finish one of those things you get a prize. That must be what it is...I have no desire to do one of those damn things.

Add me to the list of sudoku players. It keeps your mind working in cruise better than an internal loop of the meow mix theme song "Meow meow meow meow. Meow meow meow meow. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow. Meow. Meow. Meow."

p.s. And when I say "in cruise" of course I mean when I'm on a cruise. As the only thing I read in flight is the FOM...

The Sunday NYT crossword puzzle is written on a Thursday level... The Friday (Saturday?) one is the hardest. Monday being the easiest, obviously.

I tried to do a wednesday once and said "fuggedabowdit".

I was so much smarter when I was younger.

It's all fun and games until you miss your turn in 'the ditch', 602!

You been talking to my IOE cap'ins? :)

Besides, all us FOs are really allowed to do is sit there and push the "red button."

I work in the medical field and several people I work with are obsessed with these puzzles.
I don't care for them.
On the PPC is there a free program for the puzzles?
Just what I need, another distraction on my PPC.
The FAA stuff I need to study on it is often passed up for some solitare. Lame!
So tell me where the free puzzle software is.
