Student Endorsement Question

I just got my CFI. When signing a logbook, since my certificate has "pending" as the certificate number, what do you put when you endorse the logbook?
I forgot to ask the examiner. I was going to call the FSDO, but I figured some of you guys would remember how you signed it until you got you're permanent license with a certificate number.

Thanks,
Joey

Your CFI certificate number should be your commercial pilot certificate number plus "CFI".

For instance: Joey J. Josephson 3218762CFI Exp. 05/2009

Does your commercial pilot certificate still say pending? If you have a certificate number and your CFI certificate says "Certificate Number: PENDING", then the examiner made a huge mistake and there could be a problem with your paperwork.

Sign your name and the word "Pending" as your number, along with the expiration date. Until you receive your permanant copy, your CFI # is "Pending".

My Commercial has a certificate number, I've had it since 1995.
I thought since the CFI will be a seperate license, then it will have a different certificate number than the Commercial.
Is that wrong?

Thanks,
Joey

Since there are two completely opposite opinions here, I'll just say that I agree with noeshair. Until the FAA issues a CFI certificate with its own number, it's "Pending."

My examiner put my commercial cert number and 'CFI' on my instructor temp cert.
We may be in a period of change where Examiners are starting to put the numbers on it. I seem to recall something about Examiners using "Pending" because of privacy concerns.

In Joey's case, though, the Examiner put "Pending" on the temporary certificate, so "Pending" is is.

The number usually carries over - easier to find you with one number than with two. ;)

In your case, is your Commercial certificate number your SS#? If so, your CFI certificate will have a different number.

Yes, the commercial certificate number is my SS#. I was just told this afternoon they don't use SS#'s anymore. And that is why he put "Pending" on my CFI.

Thanks for all the responses,
Joey

You will now also recieve a new commercial pilot certificate with a new number as well, the same as your CFI. Both have to have the same number (what I was told).
