Job Summary

Job Summary
Filling two vacancies:

The purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise and professional knowledge in the development, preservation and safety of aviation in Minnesota. This position inspects and licenses airports, and commercial aviation operators, and enforces Minnesota Statutes and Rules pertaining to aeronautics. This position organizes and conducts safety and educational seminars for pilots and airport operators. This position also provides pilot services in single and multi-engine aircraft.




Qualifications

Three years professional experience in one of the following areas:

Aviation safety and legal compliance inspector for a governmental agency; OR Manager of a fixed base operation; OR

Instructor or professor of aviation management or aviation sciences at an accredited university/college; OR

Aviation program administrator for a large education, business or governmental organization;

AND

Extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations;

Moderate knowledge of surveying equipment and techniques;

Computer knowledge and experience sufficient to manage a database of airport information;

Human relation and communication skills sufficient to prepare and present technical information to diverse groups;

Required Certifications:

FAA certification to operate high performance and complex aircraft;

Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument rating or airline Transport Pilot Certificate;

1,000 hours pilot time and 500 hours as pilot-in-command;

AND

Current First Class Medical Certificate by the time of appointment

Valid Driver's license

REFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS:

**Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check**
