Spirit Scabs

If he had resigned his position on the seniority list, would that have been kosher? Another question, chief pilots and training department guys are supposed to strike if the pilots do? I don't know, just askin'.

My Grandpa ran TWA's training department in the early 60's. TWA pilots went on strike at some point during that time. He did not go to work. He checked with his MEC and when the strike was wrapping up they wanted him to fly a DC-9 somewhere to position it for operations to begin he cleared it with the union and got it in writing that they said it was ok to do.

What Waco said, as usual. If you don't know, ask. Dudes don't screw around about their livelihoods, nor should they. Assuming (which is maybe a stretch) he was telling the truth, I felt bad for the MD-80 guy, but with all the outlets available to pilots these days to ask questions, there's really no excuse for not knowing how the Union is going to see your actions. I would wash dishes before being seen as a scab or even tantamount to one. Setting aside the moral arguments (with which I agree, it turns out), it's just bad for your future. Don't do anything Dumb. If you don't know what's Dumb, ask. It's pretty simple.

How much free beer are we talking about, El Jefe? My Care and Feeding requires much fermented beverage. Looking forward to seeing three of you at NJC! ;)

Oh hell, when the Paulaner Oktoberfest arrives, I'll have 15 1/2 gallons, that's almost 130 pints. A good start? :)

Great post. And add to that, when the MEC allegedly, reportedly counsels you not to do something, and you do it anyway...don't be surprised at the negative reaction.
