Spent the Morning in the Hospital

amjon

Pilot and A Half (for now
I have a midwife appointment this morning and a glucose tolerance test. My BP was elevated, so they told me I had to go to the hospital. I went straight up to labor and delivery and got hooked up to all the machines to monitor my BP/ pulse and the baby's heartbeat. I was there for nearly 2 hours and with each reading my BP would be lower than the one before. The OB finally came in and said I was fine and as long as my urine test came back clear of protein I was being discharged. He said they couldn't give me BP meds as they can mask pre-eclampsia, so basically pregnancy induced hypertension can't be treated. :( (My final reading was 134/71 though, so it did go down quite a bit.) I just pray that I can keep her in there until at least 37 weeks and that we will be healthy.

Boy, stressing times for you. You just tell that little sweetie to stay put!!! Seriously, I hope this all works out okay for you and your child. Try to be calm (I know that's difficult) and maybe try to look up on line what to avoid that might raise your BP, like caffeine. I am sure you have probably looked into this already. Get as must rest as you can also and don't overdo. Pregnancy can be hard on a woman in many ways. Keeping my fingers crossed for you both.

I'm trying to take it easy. I had to go to the store yesterday and starting having Braxton Hicks contractions which made it hard. I don't think I'm going to get much done between now and when the baby arrives.

You are almost there - although people say 24 weeks is viable, 28 weeks is when statistics are really in your favor for a healthy baby!

Hope you aren't making Christmas an extra stressor. I'm sure everyone in your life would gladly forgo a gift and even a card just so you have a healthy baby. I wish you the very best.
