Special issuance for IBS

Hey Doc,

Just wondering if someone has IBS, and they loose their medical because of it what will it take for them usually to get a special issuance as of now? Any prediction when the new guidleines may be issued for IBS, where AME's can grant this? Thank you!

The FAA is expected to publish the requirements before the end of the year. If the airman meets the criteria published, the AME can issue, if not the file has to go to the FAA for review and a decision.
