Indeed. The Wisconsin State place with a rocket launch spot was closed, so back to our little rc plane field we went.
Still ended up having a ton of fun.
Need to practice my picture taking, now that the kids figured out how to launch these things themselves

Shoot in manual. Pre focus. I've done it before by putting the rocket on a pole and holding it where you want to get the shot so you can set the focus. Fastest shutter you can get without having to go crazy with the ISO. If you are super confident in you focus you can crank down the aperture and get a nice bokah with the rocket in the clear. If you are less sure of the focus then a bit higher fstop will give you a bit more depth to catch the rocket with.
