Southwest vs. the FAA

This is either one of the funnest or saddest things you have ever said.

Isn't there a saying about people in glass houses.

Can we say flight 261 your company killed 88 people Southwest: None

So that little boy that Southwest killed in Chicago when they overran the runway doesn't count? How old do they have to be to count? Or is it that if they weren't in the airplane they don't count?

Sorry to go back several posts, but there is a lot of discussion on SWA's taxi speeds. I can't recall any taxi mishaps involving SWA. Of course, I am not counting the overrun since I think that was a failed attempt to save a botched landing...

Have they had any reportable taxi mishaps?

They did some off-roading in Spokane, WA a few weeks ago.

Pilot error killed that kid I was talking about MX.

Only a ....... would make an argument based on an aircraft accident. And I have NEVER, REPEAT NEVER made a derogatory comment about SWA's safety record. It is, in fact, admirable.

We were talking about jetBlue pilots who intentionally violated FARs in order to increase their earning potential.

Why don't you try reading these threads for comprehension? If you can, that is...

Just curious..... I have heard lots of conversation regarding "anamolies" occuring during the autoland. What types of behavior have you guys experienced? Does the aircraft omit the flare? I just can't imagine what could possibly go wrong with a name like AUTOLAND?

Sometimes it flares too high. Sometimes it doesn't track the centerline too well. Sometimes it chops the power too soon.

Its not my favorite event.

They did skip checks and pencil whip some of them.

Ok, Gonzo, I don't know why you've got an axe to grind here, but even you're supporting documents, if read closely, do not support your allegation. Saying something like this on a written public forum is not only libelous, it is actionable.

Your post will be forwarded to the appropriate legal department.

Good luck, son.

So, you mean, the information that he gave in his post supporting his allegation isn't enough "supporting documents"? Your claims of forwarding it to the legal department is funny. If that was possible, with an opinion, most could send every post you make to 6 different airline legal depts. Reminds me of one of my friends avatar...

Honestly, dude, give it a rest. I don't understand how you can accuse him of having an "axe to grind" when you have one constantly. Is it ok for you, just not anyone else? And why when someone catches you on something, do you grab your ball and go home?

Ok, Gonzo, I don't know why you've got an axe to grind here,

My only axe is with the bean counters that are always trying to save a few dollars. All they care about is the bottom line and will paying out on some death claims be cheaper then doing thing the right way. That is what happen with AA 191, AS 261, and a few others.

Not hard to find website's with info and statements by Robert Cles and Jerry Smith. Those guy have said a lot worst.

PS- I have read the NTSB report and the two pilots are heroes.

If you read closely, nowhere does it say that Alaska falsified documents OR did not do the required checks.

Your right here is this better:

The criminal investigation is still under way, and the grand jury proceedings remain confidential. Meanwhile, FAA officials have recommended that the mechanic licenses of three Alaska Airlines supervisors in Oakland be revoked on the grounds they made false entries on maintenance records.
The FAA has also asked for a 44,000-dollar fine against Alaska Airlines. An original FAA proposal for an 8.7-million-dollar fine was withdrawn after FAA lawyers concluded the airlines' executives werent involved in the alleged wrongdoing.
Federal documents released earlier in the investigation revealed that Liotine complained that an Alaska Airlines supervisor filled out a post-maintenance checklist on an MD-80, although he was not qualified to do so.
An FAA inspector in Oakland went on to determine that the two MD-80 jets were in "unairworthy condition" during 844 flights between October 7, 1998, and January 19, 1999 because portions of records that document maintenance were incomplete.

A Federal Aviation Administration report found two MD-80s that made 840 flights in late 1998 and early 1999 on which records were falsified. Because of the altered records, the aircraft were considered to be in "unairworthy condition," FAA documents said.

Keep scrambling, lad. Because NEITHER of these instances had anything to do with the incident you originally referred to. So, keep digging that hole.

Personally, if I were you, I'd be deleting posts as fast as I can.

Thanks for the taxi info guys, I appreciate it.

Now, the threat of legal action (perceived or real) on this website is a first. Sure lots and lots of squabbling and arguing, (over and over) but I haven't seen "legal action" thrown out there. Dough? Krisite? I'm not a big fan of locking down a thread, but I think this one is out of control. Am I just crazy or does anyone else agree with me?

LOL, dude you are a trip.

I just wish you were as smart as you are funny. I just wish you could delete the last 100 posts you've made.

PCL is doing nothing more than talking trash to sound good. Even when proven wrong, he still talks trash. It's amazing to me.
