Southern Air Hiring

Heard it was for 1 spot due to someone leaving last month. The class they hired a couple months ago are all getting rolled over to Atlas/Polar next month (it's a whole seniority thing). The rest of the Southern peeps merge with Atlas/Polar starting January 1st so they don't lose their seniority.

I heard they were hiring 2 due to 1 leaving last month and another being promoted this month. Either way they are for sure hiring 1-2 dispatchers.

Yeah, they said 1 yesterday but with all the unknowns with the merger that could jump up quickly to 3-4.

So they're pulling people from the last SA hiring to beef up PO and 5Y. I would guess that this will be for 3 spots maybe up to 6. The latest and greatest is that PO and 5Y will not hire for a bit but instead pull people from SA.

CVG office opens next week btw

How many are expected to move right away?

So after the storm of news yesterday, basically what it comes down to is the 6 dispatchers that were hired back in April at southern are all being moved immediately to Atlas. Their class starts on July 10th. For the time being that leaves Southern With 13 dispatchers. I expect them to hire at least 1-2 people possibly more depending on if they want to Back fill more for Atlas/Polar.

2 more leaving so 4 lines will be open. Who knows how many they decide to hire in this class.

Yep, apparently word just came out today that Southern will be Hiring 3-4 more dispatchers. Interview process is supposed to be completed some time next week and class start approx 2 weeks thereafter.

Good luck to those who apply.

Got the call from HR last week , still waiting for the second call. Sounds like they just started sending invites today

What will be different for those people, going to PO and 5Y from SOO? The contract will eventually be the same, correct? Differences in shifts, software, policies?

Once they get their single operating certificate all the dispatchers will join the Union at which point all shifts will be the same. The policies and softwares are slowly being updated with manual changes.

...and the SOO guys are stapled at the bottom.

Not true. The SOO people are going to get their seniority transferred over to the 5Y/PO seniority list. It won't cause much conflict though because SOO is quite junior... no one has more than about 2.5 years of seniority.
