Something that I have noticed...

I have looked throughout the flight training forums, and to be honest, it has really cut down my choices of schools. When I first began my search, I was wanting to go to Pan Am or Westwind. I have found that for me this wasn't the best idea. Their forums were filled with a lot of bashing. This doesn't make the students or the school look very good. The Ari-Ben forum is one of a select few that little to no bashing exists (and FSA). Heck I've yet to read anything bad about this school. Sure, there are a few disgruntled people that think that they should have taken their dollar somewhere else, but they never said that they got ripped off. I have only heard that they have been professional, polite and straight forward with all potential students. That kind of professionalism will go a long way against the others. Just my two cents. Anyone else see that too?

Ohh Yea. Its easy to fall for the real nice ads some of those schools have. Word of mouth is everything. I'm trying to decide Ari or ATP? I like the price alot better at Ari Ben and like you said have not heard anything bad.

Now granted, I am just a student pilot, and by no means a competent pilot as of yet, but the idea of going through all the information from ATP in three months...it sounds like too much information to digest in such a small sitting. I downloaded a copy of the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge and have begun reading it as a heads up. Let me tell you, some parts of it confuse the heck out of me. And correct me if I am wrong, but most of that is basic knowledge that a privite pilot should know. So I can't imagine what the student has to learn for instrument, muli-engine, and commercial licenses. And to do it in 90 days. That takes one heck of a pilot that only concentrates on flying. But...That's great. If you can do it, that's great. I wish those pilots the best of luck, because they are doing something that I don't think that I have the energy to do with a wife and kid.

I too am married and I know what you mean. Dont get me wrong I have some questions, but I have heard nothing but good things. It took me almost a year to get my private. With job and other things getting in the way. But I dont think I know anymore that a guy who did it in a month. In fact it was alot easier for him to retain the info. And I certainly dont think its for everyone, and not sure if its for me. My wife and I have family in Jacksonville and will be visting shortly. We plan to look at both school while in the area.

BTW, my brother-in-law is a Marine finishing up at grunt school this month. He is more than likely going to Iraq by way of Greece (Olympics). Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for your service.
