Some Silly Random Shots...

[ QUOTE ]
You ever tempted to scream "oh my god look out!" while they're under the hood?

If my instructor would have did that, he would be pushed out of the plane!!!!!! Well, I would have found another way to get a payback /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

those are some great pics, looking back I wish I had taken more pics while I was doing my private and now my instrument.

I have two shots from my first cross-country down to Shenandoah Regional. Wish I had taken some on the way down, gorgeous September afternoon with no haze.

Got two shots coming back, the altitude we were flying at was right with an upcoming thin cloud layer, instructor asked if I wanted to go above or below it . . . of course ABOVE!

Felt like an airline up higher with a blanket of clouds underneath and clear skies above . . . also felt like I was going A LOT faster having something closer to compare my relative motion to.

Lloyd, great pics. How does a student get lost, though, with that nice moving map display?

Windchill: I used to fly in & outta Shenandoah in the 1900. Great lil airport.

w/ Colgan?

That flight in fact there was a Colgan 1900 holding short to depart when I was touching down.

Nope, when I was flying the 1900 at Mesa / Air Midwest we went in there from PIT. Not sure who does it anymore.

Hey, alot of people hate them - but they're the only type of sunglasses I've worn for about the last ten years!!! Oakley's are horribly ugly to me, and nothing else really looks good!

I don't subscribe to the "can't be a pilot without a pair" notion, but if you like something, wear it!

Of Course I'm joking though. I'm with you on the oakleys, they look small on my enormous face. I like the black frames you have on your aviators. What size and lenses are those?

Colgan flies to/from PIT-SHD, not sure of anyone else.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ahh, guess they took it from us. Too bad, the college girls made that the most sought after trip.

Girls from JMU working there? There was just some guy there when we arrived in the evening.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, girls from JMU who were passengers. When I passed through in 2000, there were 2 who worked USX who weren't too bad.

You should see them when I turn the map off..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

No BS...I flew with a guy here at the airport a few days ago. Great guy, and an awesome stick. Thing is, he hasn't flown in anything that doesn't have that moving map and GPS. Now, you all know me and my gadgets, but this was crazy.

So, here comes the clearance :N5286L, 7 miles from Stewart, cleared for the ILS runway 32 approach, cross the Stewart NDB at 3000, advise Procedure Turn inbound.

He completely freaked out. See, he's never done any of that without a map to tell him where to go. Completely screwed up the PT, and never got established inbound until we were on a 1-mile final (which means we never started down until a 1 mile final).

Needless to say, I'll be trying to work with him a bit.....

I love GPS, but alot of folks are way to dependant on it when it comes to navigation in the terminal area.

I can hardly wait for the day to teach instrument flying!!!!!

Keep up the good work and fly safe!

God, I hope not....

I will not, repeat, NOT spend even more money to wear ugly-a$$ Oakleys... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Except for my Aviator shades which were free (no Lloyd, I didn't jack yours, USAF issue /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif), for me it's all about the Wal-Mart shades, you can get some decent glasses for $5-$15.

MTSU, get on for that heading bug man! HA . . .isn't it funny, the mind of a CFI, always looking, for what's wrong.

It amazes me that when you teach you see so much. The other day I was out flying under the hood and I was SO behind the Seminole. I couldn't believe how in touch I was with instrument instruction and out of touch I was with instrument flying.
