Soloed my first student.

So one of my PPL students is safe enough to fly solo. After being bored to tears with for great landings I decided to have him go around the pattern at KOMA four times. Landings looked good too!

Congrats!! I remember doing my first two on the same day. The whole time I was thinking "don't crash, don't crash" lol.

Thanks guys. Yeah it was a interesting day. I was able to relax once he greased his first landing. It was also nice to have ATC work with him.

I had my CFII and MEI when I started and they had needs in those areas and I never went back. Good and bad.

Signing off on a student solos is easily most stressful thing about instructing. So I don't mind that it doesn't come up for me all that often.

In Florida? Pretty much zero. You have to try pretty hard to get lost here. Keep the water on one side and the beach on the other.

Glider X/C solo flights are a different story though. Very high chance of ending up in a farm field. Of course, it is flat here - so there is that. Glider X/C pilots already have PPL's though, so the stress is more on them than you.

Quick update sent the same student for their first solo XC no stress at all as he knew what he was doing.
