So Who's Missing an F14?

If the F-4N was a gate guard at KNBE, then when that air station was BRACd and shut down, the jet was likely auctioned off for scrap rather than spend the money to move it to another base or museum.

NBE was a cool base, with a south takeoff heading out over Mountain Creek lake.

If they’ve been stripped of everything usable like most display jets and are just shells, I don’t see the problem.

The town I grew up in had an old A7 on display. There wasn’t much to it other than the basic airframe. Avionics, engine, undercarriage, and just about everything in the cockpit was gone, including the seat.

The goverment is worried that Iran may get some parts. Its a shame that there are no flying ones here in the States.

Iran is reverse engineering what they can't get. One of the reasons their F-14 fleet is healthy. We should've just sold the retired airframes to Iran. It's an older generation jet anyway, we know all of its capabilities and limitation. May as well have made some good retail money off of selling them, rather than the pennies on the dollar we got for scrap value.

We didn't have a businessman running the country back then.;)
