Anyone know of anyone hiring in So Cal for someone in the 1100tt 150m time range? Trying to stay local since the wife supports my flying habit, and I'm not trying to go broke at the regionals unless i have to! Not a kick at you regional guys by any means! I know poverty; i'm a CFI! Thanks gents

Theres a flight school in Burbank that does PFT, unless you have 135 minimums. I think its called Langa Air, but im not sure. I was looking at doing the PFT thing, until i saw what a piece of s*** ide be; so now im a cfi.

I saved myself $30,000.

Anyway, I think thats who it is.
You start out in a Piper Archer, i think. Then work your way up, i think the upgrade was only like 6 months.

I havent seen their website in over a year.

Sorry i dont have the link.

um, thanks, but i was looking to start networking for a real job, not some PFT crap. I already have 1100TT with some 135 VFR stuff under my belt, lol. WHy pay and be a loser now? ANyone out there work for Spirit in Van Nuys, or West coast Charters out of SNA? THey hiring? waht sort of time are they looking for? Thanks

No, i wasnt talking about you doing a PFT. I was talking about the Ameriflight.. yeah. Your right it doesnt make sense to do a PFT.

Good luck dude. If you find something that pays better than a regional in SoCal with your time, I'd be interested to hear about it. I'd recommend getting another 100 hours and applying at Amflight, though the pay there is no better than a regional. Most of the jet charter operations (Clay Lacy, etc.) involve some kind of PFT, and/or have miserable pay and work conditions. There's a reason most of the CFI's in SoCal end up at a regional. Most corporate gigs require much more time and/or excellent contacts. Assuming you don't have those contacts, why not consider the regionals? If you're in it for the money, you may need to look in a different industry in SoCal, at least with your quals. Good luck.

Sorry,

I didn't intend to slam the regionals by any means! I know that with my times, whatever I get will be low paying and long hours with good reason. I was just looking for something in So Cal, ie like Am Flight, West Coast Charters, Spirit aviation or others. Everyone is right though, it's time to start networking! THanks for all the help guys!

There are a couple of guys that have a few "ins" with Ameriflight that might be able to help ya around the site.

Doug,

Like prudential, when you speak, people listen! Dude, (SoCal euphimism) i fly with so many guys that read this forum everyday and it's helped us all. Thanks for taking time from your life to help us all! Time to network for me as I see it. I'm hoping like heck to make it to Vegas, as long as I dont have to pass up any multi students. I've spent the last 12 yrs in the army, so I know what its like to start from the bottom and work up. It's just very rare to have people help you like they do on this site! Thanks for all the help!

That's my dream "after CFI" job. Professional outfit, lots of variety, and perfect location for me! I can walk to their HQ from where I am typing this. Will any of these Ameriflight insiders be at Network JC so I can get the gouge?
