SNQ Need Info Please

Does anyone here know what I need to do (paper/permit wise) to fly a private plane from California to San Quintin Mexico for a quick stop just to pick up some pax and bring them back here? How quickly can I get this done? Do I get the one time/one trip private permit? There will only be on trip. What do I need besides the aircraft registration, airworthiness, logs, and insurance information? I assume we need both pilot's certs as well and current passports? Do I need a third party involved in any of this? We should only be on the ground one hour or so, we won't be leaving the plane unprotected/unsecured. Any customs hassles? Thanks.

You'll definitely be on the ground longer than thirty minutes. We go to Mexico a lot and don't use a handler. However, if you're not familiar it might be wise to give Universal a call. It'll be worth what ever you have to pay and could save you some time. You'll have to clear customs on the way in AND on the way out, plus clearing at a point of entry in the US. Customs can be ten minutes to an hour depending on time of day, airport and mood of the inspector.

Money is not an issue. Never flown my own aircraft down there before, hope to never do it again either. This is a bit of an emergency situation. So we clear customers there coming and going, okay. I am hoping to get the hell outta there sooner rather than later, there will be an attorney as one of the pax and a former governmental employee/agent who are down there now working on an issue, greasing the various non ending palms and getting the paperwork, reports and other b.s. together for the three other pax who will be returning with them and supposedly they are handling the customs issues for here and for there. I'll know more Monday or possibly tomorrow. I'll call Universal then, I just looked up their North American phone number and get that ball rolling. I am not concerned with customs here really, I have help on this end and I have spoken at length with them about the situation, so we should be okay here. Thank you very much for your help.

No worries. Also, double check passports and expiration dates. Universal will need that info any way, but the faster you double check, the faster you can renew if needed. I also always ask the pax when I'm closing the door to make sure they have them on their person and not in the baggage compartment. If you've got any other questions, don't hesitate to PM.

Thank you. This is bad situation/event really. I am going to bring everything I can think of that they may ask for, I have it all handy, and call Universal to see what they need and what else I need to do. I'll make sure everyone has their passports, other IDs physically on them and not in their bags. Hopefully, we'll be down there mid week, if all goes well. I just need to be ready asap. Wish us luck.

Bring cash, preferably $MXN. Don't just bring large bills either as you'll hear, "no cambio," quite often. You'll need to buy the Multiple Entry Permit. I have all the paperwork in the airplane, but if I recall it was around $2000MXN. We're down there a few times per week. We self handle as well for most airports, as long as there is sufficient time (2 hours, if taking gas) If you need a quick answer on anything, PM me and I'll give you my cell. I'll be down there mid week as well. Most importantly, pack a lunch.

I would think you'd also need to have a 135 cert. since you are providing the aircraft, the pilot, and you wouldn't be going there anyway. But what are laws to govt. agents, and lawyers?

Do they really require aircraft logs? That freaks me out a bit. Aircraft logs are very valuable and I prefer to keep mine in a safe fireproof place until annual inspection time.

Not necessary. Never been asked.

We have that/already operate under one. It's a very complicated situation that is requiring these entities that I rather not have to get into on here.

I have the ball started now gratefully, due to Position and Hold and his advice/help. We are bringing cash and as much as it will take. Seeing as how this matter has gone thus far down there and how much it has cost everyone financially, I am prepared for the worst possible scenario now. I expect nothing less from such a corrupt country.
