A lot of people from JC have been asking me about getting jobs ground handling Skywest out of their cities. I decided to make a thread to try and help any JC members out who may be looking for a ground handling job to pay the bills. Pay is usually pretty good for the work you do, but varies station to station. And of course flight benefits are awesome.

I'll try and keep this thread updated in case it helps any of you out. If anyone is interested in applying you can PM me for a recommendation.

Currently hiring Ramp/CS(cross-utilized)in:
CIC, SUN, EGE, CPR, BFL, BZN, MWH, BTM

Apply at:
www.skywest.com/careers

Hope this helps somebody out, I know a lot of people are looking for work right now.

Juxtapilot had an interview with Skywest recently.. Here's what you need to know if you are to interview with them.

When they say professional dress or business casual do not show up to the interview in jeans. All 6 applicants wearing jeans were sent home.

Be ready for the interview. If you go to a group interview, which is likely for the larger of the cities be ready to speak in front of the group. It's a good idea to memorize a spiel to promote yourself. Touch on your past experiences and how they relate to the job you are applying for. You have 2-3 minutes to speak.

If you do well with the group interview portion you'll be invited to the one-on-one interview. They will ask you:

Why are you interested in working for Skywest?

How did you hear about Skywest?

Why are you applying for this position?

Tell me about a time you were working under pressure.

Tell me about a time you had to work as a team.

How will you handle doing mundane or boring jobs?

Have you ever been reprimanded by a supervisor? If you have not, how would you respond to being reprimanded?

Describe yourself. Tell me about 3 of your strengths.

What are your weaknesses? Tell me about one.

Do you have any previous experiences for the job you are applying to?

(For Rampers) Do you have any experiences with heavy lifting?

Can you work for long hours in different weather conditions including extreme heat, snow or rain?

That's all I remember from the interview. It wasn't too bad.

The benefits at Skywest seem to be pretty good. Good flight bennies, good investment/retirement bennies and good health bennies (despite what everyone has read).

Good luck! The kind of applicant they hire seems to be pretty unpredictable. Poor juxtapilot didn't get the job as his qualifications were not "desirable." Whatever that means. ;)

Hey Juxtapilot, what station did you apply for and do you remember how many people where in your group? I recently went through the 'experience' at SAN and there were about 70 that showed up out of the 100 that they invited.

We had people dressed all over the map from business suits to shorts and t-shirts and the interviewers never mentioned a thing.

I love how you refer to yourself in the third person Juxtapilot. It reminds me of a Senfield episode.
