Skywest in SJC

Does anyone know if the skywest flights to/from SJC are ground handled by skywest or does United and Delta oversee the operations for those flights?

If I remember correctly, when I was with Skywest last year, United and Delta handled the SBA/LAX and SLC flights respectively.

All ground operations in SJC are handled by mainline. It doesn't matter where our flight is coming from.

Here comes SLC-LGB. Wow, how many socal cities can we serve to SLC?

I saw that announcement today, wondered if any of the new non-stops would be serviced by SkyWest.....?

LGB is going to be a new base as well as a new city served by skywest. I'm assuming because United and Delta don't already operate out of there. It saves them money to just contract it out.

Compton you say? Hahaha. Skywest used to have brasilias flying from SLC to SNA!!!! It was a 3.5 hour flight! And LAX to Telluride, CO. Now thats nuts.

I guess a new announcement was made yesterday that Delta will be expanding SLC. All of the short hops are going to SKYW with the exception of Mazatlan(on a side note, I'll trade in all the short hops for one main hop to Mazatlan) by shuttle america. Mainline will be flying the longer haul. Right now 5 CRJ700's magically appeared on our delivery schedule without any major announcement. And the rumor that I heard from a few places in the company is that its just the start of another expansion on the Delta side.

You know, everytime I see an RJ now, I think of what coulda been. Ahh the potential!!! If only! No more RJ's!

One of the last trips I flew last month I flew with a captain who was going to transition to the RJ. The husband and wife duo both fly for my airline. Well, anyways, the captain was telling me how excited he/she to be going to the jet. And then he/she said, especially the 70. Now I'm sure what was meant was the shear aspect of flying a bigger plane. But what I felt like saying is......forums.jetcareers.com 2000-2006 welcome to Zion. I wish I could have given him/her the red pill. Wake Up!

Another rumor is another Texas base is a possibility. SAT was just announced as a "hublet" for United. So maybe, maybe not. I don't see them getting rid of the brasilias for at least another 3-5 years. This is just a crazy business.

I haven't heard anything about LGB as a base, but I know we have upwards of 10 crews overnighting in SFO on a nightly basis. That just screams line base potential to me. I'd be all over that like a jimmy hat!

Bummer. My buddy Dave would be stoked if LGB became a new domicile. I imagine that place would go very senior, very quickly though.
