SkyWest Hiring

I'm sure there will be many current 121 dispatchers applying as well looking for a better opportunity. Good luck to those who apply.

3 months too early for me. :eek2:

(sigh) 1 for me. I had a feeling they would be hiring again early this year, was just hoping it wouldn't be until like early spring or something. Oh well, probably more than enough qualified people are going to apply that they wouldn't hire a newbie dispatcher anyways lol

Their previous posting was in late October and went into November. Prior to that one was in July I believe. Early/mid spring is still a definite possibility.

I'll be finishing in late May-early June, so perhaps that will work. We'll see...

I don't think Skywest is an airline most 121 dispatchers aspire to be at...
I beg to differ. There is no better place to start out and do the regional gig. Industry leading training, flight benefits on DL/AS/AA/UA, and the pay is one of the top. The amount of former OO dispatchers at the majors is staggering. Definitely one of the best places to get your start.

Perhaps not as a career destination...but as a first employer, I can't think of a regional with a better reputation (or one that has more former dispatchers working at major airlines now.)

Not being a career destination is what I'm referring to. The comment I quoted above made it sound like people with 121 jobs would leave for a career at Skywest.

It's not a primary career destination per se, but there are a lot of career dispatchers there. Also, since it's a desirable regional to work at, some other regional dispatchers (at a place like Great Lakes, perhaps) might make the switch there for greater career opportunities. Finally, while it's not a path I would choose, if you find a stable regional that pays decently in an area you like and you want to stay there long-term...there's nothing wrong with that. Several dispatchers at the last place I used to work have made that choice. The only problem is, the regional industry is fairly unstable (see Comair for a good example of that) so there's no guarantee the regional where you're working will still be there when you retire. However, if I had to make a bet on a regional that WOULD be around long-term, Skywest would be at the top of my list.

My thoughts exactly and is/was exactly how I was hoping it would work out for me. Would be a great first job, plus a whole new area different from where I am at now (just want a change from the east coast for awhile), and I know a few people in that part of the country I haven't seen in awhile would be good to re-connect with. If anyone on here is from OO, hit me up and put in a good word! I'll bring cookies my first day haha

If you read my post carefully it simply states that 121 dispatchers from a la psa or another regional will be applying.

Skywest has the best reputation of any regional and they majors pull more from them than any other regional.

Re-reading your post I don't see anything directly specifying other regional dispatchers, just 121, which covers many different segments. One could assume that is what is meant by referencing current 121 dispatchers, but I didn't get that when first reading.
