SkyWest flight catches fire at Nashville Airport

I was just thinking that the photoshop gurus are going to love this one, and then... Grumpy Cat!!
Like X infinity!

Doing maintenance on a CFM-56 at dusk, had a 30-40 ft flame during start while standing under it for the leak check. Was most impressive...

Entire crew was trying to figure out where we could get a photo of it... But alas, no luck.

I've heard several stories of a crew from various backgrounds (depending on who's telling the story) flipping the switch in a King Air from Crank to Run when they didn't see light-off after introducing fuel. Same story posits that the engine left the airframe. True or not, it's a good tale (and frankly somewhat believable if you introduce a legitimate fatigue factor.)

Rumor has it Allegiant recruiters met the crew on the jetbridge after they deplaned.

I was at an interview prep thing lately and they went around the room asking what airlines people wanted to go to. When they asked if anyone wanted to go to Allegiant, nobody raised their hands. Their response was "good...because I was going to recommend you brush up on your single engine procedures."

Maybe some the models are different but the 200 I flew this wouldn't be possible. Crank is spring loaded so if you flipped it the wrong way thinking you were in start/ignite it would spring back to middle. You had to physically hold it in place to just crank.

It's been a while, but I remember the 90 (LJ8 something) being a set/select. Again, it's just a story :)

I like the guy in this picture. Not giving a F. Level 1000.
"Margret, stop texting me already, I'll be fine. Flying is still the safest mode of transportation on the planet. I have a better chance of being bit by a rattlesnake, being struck by lightening or winning the lotto than I do of being on a plane that crashes or catches fire. I'll be home tonight.-Ralph"
