Skywest doing the branded thing?

I've been hearing ever increasing "chatter", if you will, first amongst pilots now amongst several investors that SKYW may be looking into a Skywest Airlines branded operation.

Anyone else heard such "chatter"?

lol - When I saw you had replied Dan, I knew it had to be with an ASA thrown in there.

You funny guy. . . lol

Those rumors have been around for YEARS. Don't believe anything you hear until it happens.

I reported something on here last yea, I think. Not sure if there are any definities, yet.

But if so they're looking into the 100 seat market. Either CRJ-1000's or ERJ-195's.

Hope you guys are union, if this branded things ever becomes reality!

Because flying DC-9 sized aircraft around for $19 an hour is highway robbery, and with the history of Skywest you'll get paid $20 an hour to fly around a 737.

They might "treat you great!" but you guys are getting HOSED on your pay rate.

I only worked 12 days last month, so I'm probably a little behind, but I haven't heard anything more than the usual chatter about it.

But I could have predicted Surreal would chime in on a skywest thread!

;)

Edit--Oooh, this is going to be inteesting. Jtrain, how do you feel about 2nd yr FO 50 seat pay at Xpressjet being lower than Skywest? ;) Should I bitch about how, a year from now, you'll be flying SLC-GPI (traditionally a SKW route) for less than me?

Unfortunately, the union hasn't done anything for ALPA carriers flying the same sized airplanes.

Well, if you're flying a -/700900 around, that FO pay SHOULD be more than a 50 seat pay rate. Now, flying a -700/900 around for $19/hr, that's not so cool....

You get the gold star for finding the one pay rate (2nd yr FO) where SKYW pay isn't low. Bitch about flying a 90 seat plane for 50 seat rates.

Pay rate business aside (I assume most of you know where I stand)...

I have heard NO new rumors. Same old stuff, Embraer, Airbus, etc. types down in St. George visiting. Blah blah blah.

Believe it when you see it!

(same as our 5+ years of waiting on an EFB!)

Give me an example of an ALPA carrier flying a DC-9-15 sized aircraft for as little as Skywest is.

Mesaba pays year 2 FO's $28, Skywest $35. Mesaba is also rumored to be the launch customer for the CRJ1000. Mesa pays $21 for year 1 FO and $28 for year 2.

Both Mesa and Mesaba are ALPA carriers.

I agree with you 100% that the rates are subpar. But, dont go all gung-ho union on this one when I dont believe the union has done enough to correct this. This needs to be corrected sooner than later.

XJT's year 2 FO pay in 2008 will be the same as Skywest and still not flying around 86 pax. This needs to be corrected. I cant wait to see what happens with the CRJ1000.
