Sky Limo in FXE

Anyone ever interview with them out of FXE. I've already read all the horrible stuff but wanted to see if anyone here had any recent experience with them. If you interviewed what was that like?

Doesn't take long for a well deserved negative image to spread throughout the industry. You even say you've read "all the horrible stuff". What more do you need to know in order to decide to avoid a company?

I haven't heard anything bad about this company...It's all horrible.

With it's reputation, best keep looking.

Interesting. Based upon the comments, I peeped their website and video presentations.

I like the idea of regional flying support especially in the Florida/Bahamas region. Owner presentation on the video? Can't say anything negative.

So, what are the "issues?"

Well, the DO is a convicted felon, for starters.

Just to play devils advocate here; I once worked as a pilot/CFI for a convicted felon. He ran a tight ship and dumped lots of his own money (profits from his construction business) into the operation to keep us afloat.

And that matters how? Not to get into an ethical conundrum here, but I fail to see how having a felony makes your company a bad place.

ENRON. . .Kenneth Lay and Jeff Skillings

Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC - Bernard Madoff

. . .or are you referring to AFTER they were convicted and served their sentence? :sarcasm:

All that aside, I still wish to know why the company isn't "pilot friendly."

Give me a few hours to get back to the hotel and I'll copy/paste all the juicy info from another aviation forum...unless someone else does it first.

Kewl. . .thanks. I'm just curious why someone would have a pilot shy away from a flying job for a reason other than perhaps pay.

Ok, here's some excerpts from discussions elsewhere. Read into them as you wish:

They're looking for someone willing to work for peanuts in exchange for right seat time that is not necessarily legal to log. King Air 200 is a single pilot machine.

A young pilot asked for insight from the older, more experienced members of the forum. This was a response.
I suppose with 11 grandkids I am the "older" guy. My advice: do not apply there, do not interview there, do not work there. Life is too short to associate with this outfit. They are the poster child for South Florida bottom-feeders.

From a former Sky Limo pilot:
I worked at Sky Limo for a few months in between jobs and can tell you their KA200 is a single pilot operation. Right seat people in this plane do not get 135 checkrides. They do charge the customer for a 2nd pilot however.

It's been years but I doubt much has changed.

Mostly the right-seaters end up working in the office and not flying much in any airplane there.

Wash and detail customers cars while they are on a trip, and wash and detail airplanes...all for $7 an hour. It's an honor to work at sky limo, according to the owner.

And a subsequent posting from the same guy:
My experience with them wasn't horrible, it's not the bottom of the barrel but close. I put my foot down to the owner a few times where as guys with 500 hours might not have, or might not have known any better. Like any job in aviation, CYA! Not too many flight departments ANYWHERE are going to back you up when the FAA steps in.

One could make 500-1000 hours at Sky Limo and move on. Believe me, there are much worst operators in south florida.

From someone that ALMOST interviewed with them:
I interviewed ..or almost interviewed with them a long time back... I walked in for my interview as management was telling the mechanics to stop working on the brakes that didnt work on a kingair and start work on the A/C, because they need A/C more than brakes. I turned around and walked right back out the door I came in. No good.

That's it from thread #1

Now for thread #2...

Self explanatory
Just left there after flying a beechjet for 3 months. WOW, I now see what south florida charter operation means. Very shady company. Stay away!!!

Then there's the whole DO convicted felon thing...

Felony convictions tend to tell you something about how a person might run something, say a flight department, that he or she has responsibility over. JO, CEO of Mesa Air Group, for example is a convicted felon.

I'm also concerned about the specific crime as well. Firstly, as it relates to being a "convicted" felon, not a good thing that he "got caught" and "got convicted!" That says something about him. :rotfl:

More importantly, if he's popped for income tax evasion and got probation, I'd say, "oh well, hire a better CPA." ;)

If you don't see what my point is, than you may fit in perfectly at Sky Limo!

No thank you, I am currently working at my dream job. But are you suggesting that since I do see an issue with someone being a convict, I support illegal behavior/operations? Is that what you are implying?

Heard today that the chief pilot was apparently found two weeks ago, locked in the trunk of a car about to go into the crusher in a junk yard, with two broken legs.
