Signing someone off for a written using my AGI endorsement

My # for my AGI is the same for my commercial.

Do I sign it off using

1111111 AGI

There is obviously no exp date so I am assuming I exclude that and am just wondering if I use just the numbers like printed on my card or if I should put AGI at the end of it.

Why don't you just put down your CFI number and CFI.

Excuse me while I try to forget that you are a CFI.

I don't put "AGI" because I'm not an "AGI". I hold a Ground Instructor certificate with Advanced and Instrument ratings. I put my Ground Instructor Certificate number. No AGI/IGI. You don't sign it "CFII" or "MEI". You sign "CFI" when you endorse using your CFI certificate number because the number includes the letters "CFI".

You are a CFI, act like it.

Once you have your CFI and CFII, all that GI cert is doing in your wallet is bending your spine more when you sit on it.

Why do you flame every single thread I post on...really?

One luxury of using my AGI is no records need to be kept which is great for me.

Hop off this thread if you don't have something constructive to say.

There's nothing wrong with exercising the privileges of your Ground Instructor Certificate. Just use the number on it.

Oh, noooo the calamity of paperwork. Use their files to your advantage, they are customers to be kept not ignored. I have one sheet for every student that has all their contact info, and on that page is one line for written endorsements. Its not that hard, and will be worth your while in the end.

Sometimes it amazes me how lazy some people are. Trust me, the lazy ones that try the easy way out aren't the ones that get recommended for jobs.

'AGI' doesn't exist in FAA vernacular. If you did want to differentiate it, I used to sign '1234567 (GI-A)'

Well it is obvious that you have some vendetta against me along with some other people on this forum. I have plenty of Captains that I have worked with that are willing to walk my resume in and highly recommend me for jobs around the industry due to my work ethic and dedication not because of my filing skills so get over yourself. We have records for all customers that have all their personal information and such but these are my records for the Fed's if I need them...the less the better, why make more work for yourself?

So true. I really should have just signed it with "CFI" at the end and kept a record all these years. Yeah, keeping a record of written test scores and endorsements...that would have gotten me in the door somewhere great!

Plus it the student fails the written and you used your AGI it does not count against your pass record, but then i must be lazy too :sarcasm:

I hate to ask the stupid question, but if one is an agi and a cfi, does the particular certificate matter used for an endorsement matter for the pass record in the faa's eyes? The perspective of my question is that while you can use the gi certificate, you are still a cfi and one of your (as an individual) students still failed a test on your endorsement.

Man I hope that makes sense, it's a bit awkward posting from a treo!

Good question. I didn't even realize the knowledge exam was counted in that "pass rate" issue. Shows ya how much I know.

Yeah, it jut crossed my mind that we can come up with logical interpretations that make sense, but the faa's perspective is the one that matters for your license. Just take the always up for debate nordo efc time situation for example and even getting an opinion from the fsdo, you know that can change from region to region.

Anyone have thoughts?

A written is a "practical test"? To prove an 80% pass rate you must show one of these: "8710 for each practical test, and a copy of each Temporary Airman Certificate or Notice of Disapproval that was awarded."


Records are easy to keep anyways, a small entry in the back of your logbook that covers 61.189 covers that. Then you never have to worry about keeping up with a lot of paperwork thats easy to lose (which I have).

Some of us don't waste our time with paper logbooks. For us, there's either keeping papers that are easy to lose, or just exercising the privileges of our Ground Instructor certificate.
