Md. Man Arrested for Shining Laser at News Helicopter

A Silver Spring man who shined a laser pointer at a news helicopter was arrested this morning, Montgomery County Police said.
Officers responded to the home of Gary Wort, 57, at about 6:42 a.m. They found him holding the laser that he shined at the passing helicopter because it annoyed him, police said; he then shined it in an officer's face.
Wort was arrested and charged with one count of disorderly conduct, three counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of prohibited use of a laser pointer.
He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center.

Good. Lock 'em up. I think it's funny how they worded it, they "found him holding the laser." Did he not put it down to answer the door?

We had a lifeguard helo (not on a mission I assume) report being hit with a laser a month or so ago. It ticked the pilot off pretty bad so he spotlighted the area, hovered and gave us his GPS coordinates so we, the controllers in the tower, then called the police to relay all of the info. We also had a description of the area since the nimrods were having a bonfire that night. Not sure how it turned out but I doubt these same people will do it again. Isn't it considered an act of terrorism now to hit aircraft with lasers?
