I just thought I would share some good news with you guys that has been happening recently. A little while back I (like everyone else in my class) recieved a history assignment to research a topic of my choice that was Canadian. It was also a contest put on by Historica and we would be having a Historica fair (just like science fair). Well any of you that know me can probably guess a few possibilities for topics. After some thought I decided to do The Canadiar Regional Jet since it had it's 10th anniversary recently and I already knew quite a bit. I began researching right away and if anybody remembers I even posted here asking any of you for links to sites about the CRJ. The links were very helpful and I was already hard at work as I had my eye on the prize. My plan was to use a regular posterboard (the kind you use for a science expariment/ project), put some plane models on display since I already collected them, put out some magazines, do a Power Point presentation and wow everyone with my knowledge. And that is exactly what I did, all of that! The posterboard contained pictures, articles, facts and trivia. My Power Point went excellent as I was taught last year how to use all of it and was allowed to use the school's laptop to present it.
Anyways the day of our school judging came and the judge was (luckily for me) my history teacher and 2 people from the school board were also there looking at the projects who were very impressed. We were told the next day the 7 students who would go on to represent the school at the regional fair in a few weeks. Well I was told I was moving up because I scored 100% (WOW).
The regional fair came and I was very well prepared and had some competition, there were 135 projects. At the end of the day the judges had a very tough decidion and took 45 minutes longer than planned to select winners. Well let me tell you what you win first: 1st place goes to the national fair for a week all expences paid trip to Montreal, 2nd-6th place go to Kingston for the provincials on a 5 day all expences paid trip. Well I'll get right to it, the last award given out was National Representitive and guess who won it? So now I am headed to Montreal July 5-12 for the national Historica Fair. There was an award presentation the other night and I recieved a lot of praise and a beautiful award and couldn't be happier. Thanks for everyone's support I will keep you updated. You can see Historica's site if you would like at www.histori.ca . I'll try to get some pictures to post as soon as I can, and sorry for writing such a long post.
