SFO Circle-to-Land 1R approach

ChasenSFO

hen teaser
The circle-to-land 1R approach is very rare, only happens maybe once or twice a year, if even that. Its a really cool approach that is totally visual and brings arriving aircraft very, very close to the hills and involves some pretty steep turns. The approach is somewhat similar to the one from Kai Tak, minus skyscrapers. Everyone flies it differently, some get much lower than others. But every approach is awesome to watch, here are some shots I thought I'd share. The first shots are a sequence showing a UA 744 turning base to final leveling out right at the threshold, taken from my old high school's football field.

Thats it for now, later I'll get around to uploading some shots of 747s skimming the hills on a different day.
